“For Playful Manners” is a new label run by Raquel Rivera-Lys aka Adi from Colombia and
Basic Moves head honcho Michiel Claus aka Walrus from Brussels. Dreamt up
spontaneously during a shared afternoon of listening to music in Berlin, the label’s manners
centre on the feelings of friendship and fun in music, though its feet are always itching for the
dancefloor and its various scenarios, while its head is turned firmly towards the future. Crisp
music is the message every time, with each split EP also thoughtfully balanced:
male/female, machine/soul, robot/alien, flower/tree... The artwork takes the form of a puzzle,
which has to be solved to discover the tracks and their makers. Let’s play!

After a stand out compilation release in 2020, in support of Black History Month Norway, Oslo based collective & label, Det Gode Selskab hit launch with another extensive release this autumn. Accompanying the release will be an exciting NFT campaign in collaboration with Berlin based artist and illustrator German Bardo, which will be announced in due course.   The essential sampler will consist of 24 tracks split across several releases throughout the next period. You can expect a host of Norwegian talent, and artists that have inspired and influenced the DGS journey thus far. 
To initiate proceedings there will be a double single teaser release of sophisticated jazz gloop by Third Attempt, giving you a warm and inviting welcome to the string of releases. From an extremely young age Third Attempt made an instant impression on the Norwegian scene, and beyond, his smooth and tight productions maneuver between ambient, jazz, trip hop and house, and both are these tracks are a prime example of his genre bending studio work. "Hacking Jazz" boasts crisp drum work, futuristic yet nodding towards the nostalgic sounds and influences of the past. "Designer Breaks" rides an irresistible and funky groove that grips you and takes you down a path of luscious percussion textures and elements. 
 
This release inaugurates what is set to be an exciting project for the Det Gode Selskab collective as they explore further creative avenues, expanding their ideas and opportunities in the coming years, showcasing underground sounds yet simultaneously embracing movements of modern day society. The double header from Third Attempt will see the light of day on the 17th of September.

I first met Eleou when I was burning the midnight oil editing videos at a New York City music production school in the West Village. She came in with some footage to edit for a documentary of her previous stints as a DJ under a different alias. The school was a hot bed for meeting interesting people, so I took some time to check out her music.

We went to a few events together over the next couple years, and she even makes a cameo in my music video for Tarot ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrevYQ-qNcI ). Since then, she has traveled the world, living in Athens Greece, New York City, and Berlin. Her zest for adventure and experience traveling the world comes through in her international DJing style, combining heady, atmospheric cuts with body moving low end.

Her Ancient Puzzle Arts mix is an incredible introduction to her unique international style. The mix is a concise hour of atmospheric, synthetic and rhythmically captivating beats. Perfect for an East Coast winter evening before going out to the club. Enjoy!
