For this weeks show we have Edgar Um on the decks.

Edgar Um Bucholtz is a DJ, multi-media artist, event producer and improvising musician living in Pittsburgh, PA.

Ed is the co-founder and one of the resident DJs at Honcho, a monthly after hours disco, house music and techno music rager for queers and friends at Hot Mass in Pittsburgh. He is also the co-founder and co-resident (with DJ Dad Time!) of Pgh Bro Club, a monthly trash pop, anything goes, changing-theme dance party at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh. In his spare time he makes sounds in Fuck Telecorps, a long-running electro-acoustic improvised experimental sound/performance project, and in an occasional power-electronics noise project called Cock Scene Investigator and also helps out with VIA.

He started collecting vinyl records and playing records at parties while in high school in rural southwestern Ohio. While an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, he was a DJ on WRCT FM (and for a few years after.) He credits WRCT's record library and many of his fellow WRCT DJ comrades with giving him as much or more important information as his professors at CMU. In addition to DJing at WRCT, he produced a long-running weekly live experimental improvised radio show called "Radio For The People" in collaboration with fellow CMU technology-focused art students as well as with bands and noise musicians from Pittsburgh. He also produced a weekly critical and cultural theory radio show called "Inside The Beast: Theory In Transmission" in collaboration with professor Camilla Griggers and graduate students in the CMU English Department.

Recording from a special night at Ankali for the Dekmantel party 2 weeks ago, it’s one of the best clubs in Europe for me, truly a place for pure creative expression.

From House to Techno to Ghetto Tech to more minimal and tribal and dub stuff. Lately, I feel like I’m getting deeper into my sound and storytelling as a dj. I’m also getting better at playing with 3 decks, and I got back into vinyl. It changes everything, the music feels physical again. I'll try to share things more spontaneously like this one in the future, thanks for your constant support.

ephemeral objects is a DJ, VJ, producer, and digital artist who thrives at the intersection of ambient introspection, driving rhythms, and textural lushness. New York-via-Chicago trio Purelink – @milliamusic, @kind_tree and @raw_silk – record a deep and dub-soaked minimal techno mix for the Recognise series.

Purelink’s name has become increasingly prominent in recent years. The group – once memorably dubbed “the chillout room Backstreet Boys” – have spent the past half-decade exploring the deepest nooks and crannies of electronic music: fourth-world ambience, zero-gravity dub techno, groggy downtempo, baggy-eyed drum-and-bass. Is it ambient? Sure. But that's just part of the story. Call their music what you will, but it’s consistently remarkable, a slow-motion tumble of histories bound together by a shared interest in blissed-out soundscapes. In conversation with Michael McKinney, they speak about about the friendship, trust and chiller’s mentality that guided the creation of their new album, ‘Faith’, out now on @peakoil.
