“I’m such a pop guy,” he told The Daily Times this week. “My style, my singing, my melodies — I think they kind of fit along those lines. There are some similarities there with those guys. When I was in Nashville, I tried to fit the mold and write songs that had no connection to me whatsoever, and what I found was that I need to write for me, first and foremost. I’m like the male version of Taylor Swift, in that I write about relationships past, present and future. And the response has been great.”
