For some entrepreneurs, their drive causes them to be so focused on their short-term survival -- they forget to design a legacy upfront for their long term thriving. Or they feel they have so much more time in that metaphor of how 'the days are slow but the years are fast', in the illusion we will be here forever. 

However, with this procrastination, you become like a library book in that once you are gone, so too is your knowledge … a book never to be read again in being able to pass on your wisdom. So how do you live into the present while projecting out what you would like your legacy to be? First, your legacy will be a collection of your actions during your lifetime. Second, you will need to set aside a certain amount of time to help guide that legacy to success, to get to that next point in excelling at your core values. 

Think of it this way: Designing your legacy requires planning and upfront thought leadership. Write down your vision statement and ideal obituary, with the strides you’ve made. How can past pain serve your legacy?

In this week’s episode, Angelina Carleton speaks with financial planner Bryan Mitchell. Bryan highlights how a loss is four times more impactful in one's memory and how we should have the uncomfortable conversations in the needed shifts around patience.
