VA-Jungle DnB Mixes

With over two decades in the Jungle Drum & Bass scene, K3MURI has been dedicated to promoting the genre since starting his DJ journey in 1999. He and his former crew "Nuff Frequency" were busy hosting Drum & Bass, Reggae and Hip-Hop events in the 2000's.

K3MURI is rooted into sound system culture as a founding member of "Concrete Pressure Soundsystem" touring the country under the moniker Echo Rebel for 10 years. This experience created a lasting influence to his selections whilst pushing boundaries with a variety of styles, sub-genres and ventures into Dubstep and UK Garage.

Based in Hamburg, he continues to share his love for Jungle Drum & Bass and sound system culture through his "Asylum Sessions" DJ mix series, live streams, appearances at radio, night clubs and festivals, with more to come in the future."

Producer & DJ Tomoyuki Ichikawa from Japan, AKA Itti, was drawn to the drum & bass scene in 2011.

Itti has been DJing since 2012, heating up the dancefloor for many big artists in EU and in Japan including dBridge, Dub Phizix, Om Unit and Skeptical. 

More recently Itti has dedicated his time to creating tracks and honing his skills to a professional level. In 2014 he contributed to a remix album for Kaizan Records and took 2nd place in the 2016 Outlook DJ Japan Competition. In 2017 Itti had his first major release for Japanese drum & bass label Subdued Records. Most recently in June 2018, he had his debut release on UK based Diffrent Music with the Djembe EP and he played his first UK set at NOISE TEST. In 2019, he had releases on Ronin Ordinance, Onset Audio, Mask Music and Conspired Within Music. He also collaborated with dBridge and Kabuki on “NEW FORMS” and played a deep dnb set at Membrain Festival in Croatia.

Deviate Guest Mix 001 - Itti

We told you that Congo Natty aka Rebel MC was more than a legend and now it's time to prove it. For your listening pleasure the one and only Uncle Dugs (Rinse FM) has compiled a mix that takes the listener all the way through Mikail Tafari's career, from the early Rebel MC & Double Trouble days right up to the last few years. 

Seventy eight minutes charting the birth and development of Jungle, the mix works as a perfect taster for the forthcoming Congo Natty opus, "Jungle Revolution." Congo Natty Mix by Uncle Dugs

Philo proves you don't need decades of experience to understand and push boundaries of a genre. With national and international recognition, Philo's originally vinyl-exclusive selection has evolved over time into a digital hybrid in the pursuit of the best possible sound. Characteristics of her selection involve rough UK bass, deep amen, atmospheric dnb, half-time, dubby bassbin, jungle and footwork with a splash of classic 90s.

She has played club gigs across Germany as well as many festivals and holds keen interest and involvement with Deegree Recordings since 2020 moving into organizing and promoting too. Since February 2020 Philo hosts a radio show on the infamous jungletrain.net every second Wednesday at 11pm while also continuing to contribute journalistic endeavors regularly to the German drum & bass magazine, Trommel&Bass. 

What’s next for Philo? She has dreams to someday play in London and cannot wait to get back into putting on regular events as soon as the Covid situation will allow it.

Yorobi (real name Josje Bijl) is an Amsterdam based DJ & producer who started out DJ-ing in 1999 after getting introduced to a pirate radio station (Nautic Radio Groningen) in her home town of Groningen. 
Yorobi had her own show at the local pirate station with strong focus on Drum and Bass, Hip Hop & Electro. She invited guests from all over town and occasionally hosted internationally known DJ's. Her own journey as a DJ began with her debut set in the basement of Vera (a club in Groningen). After that the ball was rolling, she played all over the country alongside local and internationally known artists (such as Flight, The Upbeats, Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Grooverider), as well as in the UK & in Belgium. In 2006 she relocated to http://jungletrain.net/ where she’s still broadcasting her bi-weekly live show.

A versatile artist working as a DJ, producer and visual artist, she draws influences from jungle and drum and bass as she has very firm roots in that scene but it doesn’t stop there. In her sets she incorporates all kinds of bass music related genres like juke, footwork, slowfast, dub, electro, half-time, hardcore, jungle tekno and more. Yorobi likes to operate on the left spectrum of bass music, weaving all kinds of genres and influences together because sonically they are all family and she loves eclectic coherent journeys when playing.

You can catch her live in various bars and clubs around Amsterdam, mainly at OT301, Hill Street Blues, Melkweg, Hunters Grand Café or an illegal rave somewhere outdoors. In recent years she has been playing further afield around Europe. In 2019 she’s played in London for the legendary Rupture night as well as for a night called Deviate in Berlin, Grelle Forelle in Vienna and Membrain Festival in Sibenik in Croatia. 

While 2020 has seen a definite slowdown in live gigs, it also marked the year where the first two collabs from her and Tim Reaper came out, “Rhodiola” came out on 12” on the German Parallax Recordings and “Drum Tree” came out on 12” as part of a kickstarter campaign to launch South-London based record shop and dubplate cutting house Disc World.

Digital - FABRICLIVE x Metalheadz Mix

TH3 NEXT: Whilst growing up in East Germany, he was infected with Hip Hop after watching the movie “Beat Street”. His passion continued to be DJing, and after a spectacular escape from the GDR it was finally time for two turntables. 

In 2000, 10 years after starting out, he started to produce his own beats with an MPC2000XL, with a computer running other software completing his setup. He performed alongside various artists such as Rasco, Alies, Antipop, Consortium and Motion Man as well as supporting his friend DJ Fu (founder of the DRUMBULE Hamburg) with some slick scratches during DnB sets. It was at the DRUMBULE where he got to know JNS (Phokus) who, at that time, still produced Drum & Bass. Heavily influenced by the emerging Dubstep and Grime scene, they, along with MC Mindfuck, decided to introduce this relatively unknown genre of music known as DUBSTEP to the people of Hamburg.

NXT LVL was then born and took place once a month at the ASTRASTUBE and a year later, they started another regular Dubstep event, called “WOBWOB!”. Together with Deneh, Yann Ignition and The Vinylizer, they have played host to many international guests including N-TYPE, TES LA ROK, SKREAM, HEADHUNTER and LUKE ENVOY.

Deviate Guest Mix 004 - The Next

Introducing Producer and DJ Konstantin Krasavin aka No Rules from Russia. His music making roots began in 2008 focusing on Techstep and Neurofunk styles. It wasn't long till signing on Cylon Records in 2014 with a direction into halftime for his collaborations with Gremlinz, Torn, Displaced Paranormals, and Dailiv to receive great support from many DnB producers across the globe. 

This led to further releases on Inception Audio, Nurtured Beatz Recordings, Uprise Audio, and Ronin Ordinance. In 2016 he began collaborating with French producer Khords and has releases on KosMosMusic and Regression media. In 2017 he also joined forces with Fuj and Itti and released on Conspired Within Music, Onset Audio, Black Crane and Embodiment. 

An ever-evolving artist No Rules was impressed at a party by Samurai's head honcho Presha playing a diverse techno/grey area set. He has since delved deep into this area and loves to present and combine Techno into his sets.

Deviate Guest Mix 005 - No Rules

Digital's selection on this promo mix, one the Ipswich based producer made to mark his forthcoming appearance in the Metalheadz hosted Room Two on Friday 21st June, is absolutely vital. It's an easy term to band about, like "oh yeah dude, this tune is vital to the flow of the mix," or whatever, but there's a real aspect of classicly informed junglism about the breaks he chooses to unite. That fact might be totally unsurprising if you aware of the man's heritage within drum & bass so if not, here’s a short lesson…

After being involved with reggae soundsystems in his youth, between ’89 and ’91, the exponential scene around jungle and drum & bass started to bubble and Digital started hiring out his soundsystem and found his entry point into a scene that had people like Rupert Parkes, better known as Photek, already enamoured with it. With solo releases stretching all the way back to ‘Touch Me’ on Timeless Recordings in 1995 with Digital releasing ‘Niagra’/’Down Under’ on Metalheadz a year later. A regular on the scene ever since Digital went on to birth his own Function imprint, releasing Space Funk: The Archives 1995-2008 in May of 2009, chronicling his progression and career up until that date. 

Still as potent and precise in his DJing, Digital’s appearance at Metalheadz on Friday 21st June promises a lot with his core educated dynamics nestling amongst sets from Goldie, Calibre, Lenzman, Jubei, CMX, DJ Flight and One 87.
