Unusual and alternative sounds, experimentation in rhythm and melodic alterations: all of this is The Flying Mars project. Mario Engel, hailing from the green valleys in the middle of the Swiss Alps, was always in contact with different genres and had a good ear for many kinds of music. Now, with his “The Flying Mars” project he wants to channel all of his auditory and composing experiences into a mind-bending mix of creativity, giving his contribution to the already variegated world of electronic music.

The Flying Mars combines Psy-Dub, Ambient, Psy-Chill, as well as Drum & Bass and Psy-Trance, with flowing rhythms and deep bass lines. Through variations, mixing, tests and sonic atom splitting, The Flying Mars’ project strives to simultaneously stimulate mind, body and soul.

This was a 12:00 - 14:00 set in the crazy sunshine (shaded..) for some context.. :) Also, in the interests of openness, this is a backup of my set, as I couldn't record the actual set, due to technical issues (and even had to rely on this backup at times). Its something I used to do quite a lot, just posting random tracks now and then, I guess as this has become more and more real, I've become ever more guarded about tunes, holding them back for various reasons etc. But anyways, here's this one, I hope you like it :)

Stratusphere - Chimerical Apparitions

A broken time portal to an alternate universe leaves 2 scientists trapped in a Sultan's palace where they befriend the court musicians and plot an escape.   In the end they decide to stay for a while as the sultan is really cool and loves the saxophone.  Court musicians composed this song to commemorate the saga of the time traveling duo, and the song premiered at the Sultan's honorary BTM gala event.
