Believe It

This obsession started when I was a kid, about the age of 7. I used to put my black tape recorder, the one with the red record button in the middle of the play button, up to the huge black tuck and pleat vinyl stereo speakers my parents had in their house to try to capture the sound coming out.  It wasn't uncommon for my parents to find me sitting in the den with my dad's headphones on, listening to his rock records, getting lost in the music. As I got older, my obsession kept growing.  I got my first pieces of gear. A Yamaha analog 4-track and MC303 and shit got real,,,
  I moved to Austin, Tx in 2000 and went to Mediatech Institute of Recording. I was blessed to be able to learn from some of the best in the biz. I've spent  decades behind the board culminating a definitive and precise understanding of sound and how it affects the world around us. I moved to California around 2010 and my life hasn't been the same since.  I was blessed with a fantastic engineering spot at a World Renowned Hip Hop studio in Oakland, The Grill, and moonlighted at the Famous F8 club in SF, running the sound system.  Through all this, I managed to build a spot I can call my own, while maintaining connections to larger A+ studios across the States. This is my  moment where the past will propel a new era of original sound.  Under the moniker HIPPO, compositions lay testament to a sophisticated and timeless music.  I'm always looking for the perfect rhythms and melodies to induce the proper state of bliss and to convey a message or an emotion, using any means necessary..
