Hope you enjoy this mix i did for Cutters Choice Radio and join me to delve back into one of the greatest mix compilations (in my opinion) of all time the Classic Renaissance 3 CD collection put out by Sasha and Digweed in 1994!

Im sure many of you have got this CD or at least heard it, or played it hundreds of times, it was a landmark release that still sounds absolutely amazing.

This mix features different tracks from the 3 CD's but with my own arrangement / twist with a few modern versions thrown in. 

Expect to hear lots of House, Progressive House, Trance classics that capturte the sound of the Renaissance nights of the mid 1990's.

Renaissance Sasha and John Digweed - Rebooted...!!

Naples-based but internationally renowned Cristian Volpe has spent many years as a resident in some key clubs around Europe. As such, he has a sound that takes in many influences from deep to soul to Afro, and they all get distilled into unique productions on the likes of Plastik People, Motive Records and Space Disco as well as Adunanza, which is also where he has one of his hometown residencies.

His standout new single 'Never Gonna Stop' taps into the very essence of proper house music - it's got a big soul, and a thumping groove that taps into primal dancing urges. The percussion is slick with hints of tribal, while hazy trumpet motifs bring colour, and an expressive vocal adds extra fuel to the fire.

So I just sat down and hit record and played some lovely old renaissance favorites from around 25 years ago (don't pull me if they're not, it was unplanned and freestyling). As they're all my vinyl rips there's the odd wobble here and there! I guess that's the original beauty of vinyl...it isn't BPM perfect.
It's the first mix I've done live since changing to Pioneer Rekordbox and DDJ-RX controller. I hope you enjoy it x

I did this mix earlier in the year, spending some time sourcing some lesser known tunes that rocked Renaissance back in the day. I wanted to create something from the era of the original Renaissance mix collection, but from my experience as resident at Venue 44.

I'm a big fan of music generally, and also making connections with people through music. My collection has grown over the years and is still growing weekly! It contains a bit of everything, mostly influenced by breakbeat and drum and bass although more recently house and tech house. I was and still am a big fan of breaks, especially tracks from the likes of Freeland, Atomic Hooligan, Freq Nasty, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts etc but this list is definitely not exhaustive and I will listen to, and play anything within reason. Got to have an open mind! 

Things are a little quieter these days but I've spent many weekends lost in a field/club/house party somewhere!
