Devilock - Cause of Death

"Lauter" was my entry for the executable music compo (old school) at Nordlicht 2013 and became 3rd place. It was produced entirely at the party in a few hours. drunk. with crazy 110 db surrounding noise from the party ^_^ - so don't expect too much. ;-) It was composed on a real C64 with an 8580 SID. Lauter

"Indestructible" was composed on a real hardware C64 with 8580 SID chip. The tune is used as the ending theme in our little  demo "Too Hot To Trot" by Arsenic for the Demo Compo at BFP Demoparty 2013 in Sweden. Cause of Death

"Juliet End" was composed on a real hardware C64 with 8580 SID chip. The tune is used as the ending theme in our C64 DTV demo "Outtakes" by TRSi for the Mixed Demo Compo at Nordlicht 2013 in Bremen.  The C64 DTV has no real SID chip, it's emulating the SID sound, has no filter and other sound issues. I have no possibility to get the demo onto a real DTV, so I recorded the music from a real SID.

Scale of Recreation

"Phased Out" is the title music of the C64 game "Phase Out". The game was supposed to take part in the 16K cartridge game development compo on RGCD.co.uk, but was not finished before the deadline unfortunately.
It was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID chip. The tune was directly recorded from the original composing machine with two 85080R5 SID chips installed. Enjoy ^_^

Phased Out

Phased Out (Video Game Soundtrack)

This is my remake of the "Terra Cresta" title screen music from the game. The track won the streaming music competition at Nordlicht Demoparty 2022. The original tune was composed by Martin Galway. 
I made this remake using mainly orchestral sounds, a real Moog Subsequent for the iconic lead melody and two software synth for sound effects. Enjoy ^___^

"Gravity Lens" was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID by dEViLOCk. The tune was made for a C64 crack intro by Total Chaos of Noice/F4CG.
It was directly recorded from a real C64 machine without post processing. No samples used, pure SID.

"Fuzzy Fusion (Reprise)" is a new Version of my tune "Fuzzy Fusion" which was made in 1990.

Night Turn

"Endboss" is a short tune composed for the C64 DTV Demo "Saufzucht!" by Oxyron - which won the "Old School Demo Competition" at Nordlicht Demoparty 2017!
It was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID chip. The C64 DTV has no emulation of the SID filter, so I didn't use filtered sounds in this composition. The tune was directly recorded from the original composing machine with two 8050R5 SID chips installed. Enjoy ^_^

Endboss

"You [Remix]" is a new version of my tune "You", featuring new instruments, a few new parts and better over all sound. It was composed with SID Duzz'it on a real C64 with an 8580 SID. The tune was directly sampled from my C64 machine.

"rASTEr aRSe" is used in the C64 crack intro "Raster-arse" by Arsenic. It made rank 6 in the Intro Creation Competition 2018 at csdb.dk. The tune is composed on and recorded from a real Commodore 64 with stock 8580 SID chip. No post processing, samples or effects used. The Cover is a screenshot of the intro.

rASTEr ARSe

!Cube did a great job by remixing my tune "Outpost" on the Atari ST!
The soundchip of the Atari ST (YM2149F) can produce three voices of square waves and has one noise generator. !Cube also composed a few new leads and fine details into the tune. Awesome work!

!Cube - Outpost (Atari ST remix)

Released at Maximum Overdose 10 Demoparty in Lübeck, 28.12. - 30.12.2012.
Original tune was composed by Rob Hubbard for the C64 game "Lightforce" by Faster Than Light in 1987.

For my version of the tune I used a Roland SPD-11 drum machine and a DSI Prophet '08 PE analog synthesizer.
Arranged in Apple Logic. No additional effects/tools/plugins/VSTis (like compressors or limiters) used to keep the sound as organic as it comes out of the Prophet '08.

I started with my Version of Lightforce in the year 2000, I think. I was never really satisfied with the sounds or the arrangement. When I got  the DSI Prophet '08 in 2009, I started with a real analogue version of the tune. IMHO an analog synth version is the only way to live up to expectations for Rob Hubbard's masterpiece.
So, here it is finally. :-)

Lightforce (Massive Analogue Mix)

My C64 SID version of the original song by Jerry Jeff Walker from 1968. This version is more like the later interpretation by Sammy Davis Jr.
The tune is directly sampled from a real C64 with an old 6581R4 SID chip. No post processing, all the noise and static is from the real machine. ;-)

"Somewhere Only We Know" was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID chip. It competed in the C64.sk Cover Compo #2. The original song is by Keane.

Somewhere Only We Know

"Quicksand" by Endbass is my submission for the polyend tracker challenge (more info here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc_6bMTdpYM). There are more than 220 submissions in this Compo, so let's see how far I get with this little tune. :-)
The tune was composed and mastered in Logic Pro X. The only plugin I used was the built in sampler from Logic Pro X in which I loaded the samples that I was allowed to use within the contest.
For effects and mastering I used the onboard plugins of Logic Pro X.
This track is also my debut for my new Project "Endbass", which will be about experimental electronic music in general, not only Chiptunes like do with the dEViLOCk Project.

Confidence

"Cause Of Death" is the Maintheme of the Commodore 64 Demo "Cause Of Death" by Arsenic which became 4th in the demo competition at X-2012 in the Netherlands. The tune was entirely composed on a real C64. No lame computers were harmed. Everything you hear is directly sampled from a real Commodore C64 with two 8580R5 SID chips installed. Lighthouse

This tune won the „insane combined music competion“ at Nordlicht 2020 demoparty. Dedicated to Ultrasyd who passed away in october 2020. Rest in peace!
This song was originally composed for a C64 DTV demo*. As we did not manage to release it I decided to finalize the tune for the „Notlicht 2020 insane combined music competition“.
The 3 voices of the #C64 #8580 #sid were directly recorded into Logic Pro X from the real machine with a #8580r5 SID chip.
Then I added a #behringermodeld in the beginning for some filtered bass sound and a #waldorfstreichfett for chords and a string in the beginning. The drums are the original C64 drums mixed with some drums from #nativeinstrumentsbattery .
For the #acousticguitar outro I recorded my playing with the excellent #harleybenton CLG-650SM-CE BK. In this little video I mixed some clips from the #commodore64 and #logicprox .
*the #c64dtv cannot handle hard restart of notes and has no filter like the original C64. The only filtered sound you hear is in the beginning, it‘s the deep bass drone from the Behringer Model D.

dEViLOCk is a composer located near Bremen, Germany, who is well known from the C64 and PC demo scenes. The varied style of his music is influenced not only by progressive rock bands, punk and metal but also classical music, jazz and synth pop of the 80's.

He began composing music on computers in 1989 on the Commodore 64 and joined the cracking- and demo groups Cyberpunx, Talent, 711, Tristar & Red Sector Incorporated and X-Rated and made some demo and intro music, game music, sound fx and won some competitions along the way too. The C64 was the root of all his computer music and he still uses it to produce original C64 chip tunes or to use the sounds of the C64 SID chip in professional music productions. He is currently a member of the C64 demo groups Arsenic, Performers and Oxyron.

In 1993 dEViLOCk got his first IBM PC and started to compose music with so called trackers like Fasttracker. In the late 90's and the beginning of the new millennium his music was used in many professional productions like cinematic trailers, radio commercials, web pages and presentations for agencies. dEViLOCk plays E-bass, electric- and acoustic guitar and drums on acoustic sets and also his e-drumset. Since he was 15 he played these instruments on stage in several bands like Beefcurtain (grungepunk-metal) and Mampfdampfer (crossover).

Nowadays he uses a PC, a MAC and several external hardware and real instruments to compose music. He uses state of the art soft- and hardware to produce music or sound effects for games, presentations, movies, commercials and demos.
