Drawing from a massive range of influences, SLC Special play a unique style of rock that covers a lot of ground. Never willing to put themselves in a box, they fluctuate from a destructive and energetic persona to a dreamy, wavy, ethereal sound. Coming from musical backgrounds in metal, hip-hop, drum & bass, and progressive rock, SLC Special’s sound can most easily be described as progressive stoner rock. Sound-alikes include Tool, Queens of the Stone, Slint and Akimbo. The band’s biggest influences include Massive Attack, Meshuggah, Clams Casino, Deftones, Gojira, Andrew Bird, Electric Wizard, and Chief Keef.
