'Karen Menad' presenta el sincero EP 'Elektric y Circle Room'. En medio del caos pandémico, Karen convirtió su espacio vital en un refugio de creatividad, dando a luz a este EP cargado de emociones, el cual viene acompañado de dos remezclas incandescentes, la primera a cargo de los artistas residentes 'Ledi Cannit & Veltran' y la segunda versión creada por el electrizante dúo brasileño 'Classic Dellas'.

Elaborados dentro de las paredes de su estudio casero, 'Circle Room' y 'Elektric' sirven como reflejos sonoros del estado mental de la artista durante el vaivén del confinamiento. 'Circle Room', concebido al inicio de las restricciones, y 'Elektric', emergiendo mientras los ecos del encierro persistían, encapsulan los sentimientos de la artista de sentirse 'loca y confundida'. Una expresión cruda y personal.

Menad meticulosamente curó su sonido en su estudio casero, mezclando los palpables ritmos de la TR8 de Roland con las melódicas percusiones del Crave de Behringer y una variedad de plugins. El énfasis deliberado en la percusión y la batería en este EP se convierte en una firma sonora, destacándose en un paisaje musical abarrotado.

Reflexionando sobre la recepción de estos temas, Karen Menad expresó satisfacción con la efusiva respuesta durante una exhibición de verano en Sicilia. 'Karen Menad' unveils the heartfelt EP 'Elektric and Circle Room.' In the depths of the pandemic chaos, Karen turned their living space into a haven of creativity, giving birth to the emotionally charged EP, which comes accompanied by two incandesced remixes, the first by the in-house artists 'Ledi Cannit & Veltran' and the second version made by the electrifying Brazilian duo 'Classic Dellas.'

Crafted within the walls of her home studio, 'Circle Room' and 'Elektric' serve as sonic reflections of the artist's mental state during the lockdown's ebb and flow. 'Circle Room,' conceived at the outset of the restrictions, and 'Elektric,' emerging as the lockdown's echoes lingered, encapsulate the artist's feelings of being 'crazy and confused.' A raw and personal expression.

Menad meticulously curated her sound in a home studio, blending the tangible beats of Roland's TR8 with the rhythmic melodies of Beringher's Crave and an array of plugins. The deliberate emphasis on drums and percussion in this EP becomes a sonic signature, setting it apart in a crowded musical landscape.

Reflecting on the reception of these tracks, Karen Menad expressed satisfaction with the lively response during a summer showcase in Sicily. The music resonated with the audience, fostering spontaneous dancing and a contagious atmosphere. Hommage a Mandy Morris (1980-2002) – Amanda Akers Morris was, put quite simply, my first love. I met her when I was an undergraduate at the University of Texas, and I was fascinated by her from the start. She was a very talented singer, but also an artist and poet. She possessed an insatiable curiosity and felt things deeply. Tragically, in 2002 while auditioning in NY for graduate school, she was struck by a vehicle and lost her life. To say that all of this changed me fundamentally as a person would be an understatement. I was confronted by true loss and true grief for the first time in my life, and it would be years before I really fully recovered from it – well, as “fully” as is possible. 

At Mandy’s funeral, her mother gave me a CD labeled “For our Tony.” It was a series of recordings that Mandy had made of songs that she had written - just her in a practice room playing piano and singing. Some were complete songs, but others were just fragments of ideas. It was one of these unfinished fragments that I latched onto to build this Hommage.
