Pokémon Theme ((Lost Frequencies))

okay.. this one was really fun. decided to go a different route instead of my traditional half 8-bit and half overdriven electric guitar for a video game song. clean guitar and keyboard. used the yamaha keyboard and my loaded epiphone les paul 'burst.

took a while to break the sheet music apart into two instruments, but i think i found a good balance. tried to mimic the orchestrated version as close as possible, but i didn't really compare it. i just kinda got an idea and ran with it.

two points i would like to say about this..
     * it got kinda sloppy at a couple bars due to lack of percussion tracks or a metronome.

     * there was some sound clipping and imbalanced volume due      to lazy equalizing and mixing. i was so anxious to get it out!

i got new studio monitors, so this is my first track recorded on them. not being wrapped up and strangled in a headphone cable while recording is the true definition of freedom.

i got a new midi interface the day after i recorded the keyboard track. fortunately, this means that this is the last keyboard track that will be recorded in analog. everything keyboard from here on out will be all-digital midi.

cover from south park the movie: bigger, longer, and uncut. also works good as a tone test because i put some different EQ settings to try to throw off whatever is making my tone have absolutely no low-end response. requested from a friend a while back, had some fun doing this one, especially programming the drummer during the multicultural bit. not really intended to offend people, just interpreting the original song with what i have at my disposal! enjoy

if you were wondering why, i added in a slide guitar track too because the high attack of every other instrument paired with the large amount of the low attack ocarina needed a middle step.

this symphony is one of my favorite pieces ever. i have spent more time on this than any other arrangement i've done (with the arrangement, recording, etc.) but as a disclaimer, i have never had this much trouble panning and volume maintaining the ocarina due to the amount of individual tracks i needed to simulate a larger wind section (which he originally didn't have, the clarinets were a later revision mozart made, fun fact).

i'm no producing expert, and i didn't wanna try doing too much equalization and other fancy additions on sub-par speakers/monitors. especially since the right monitor died on me mid-post-production so i had to use my old computer speakers.. hahah. 

audio quality is still WAY up because i got a legitimate audio interface with a nice sample rate. it is literally a night and day difference!

i got a new mic less than a week before i finished so i didn't use it yet, but it will be in future arrangements.

aside from overanalyzing production value logistics, i'm thrilled at how this turned out. pretty much exactly how i wanted!

i would recommend listening to a full orchestral (professional) arrangement, my favorites are leonard bernstein's and bruggen's (both on youtube)

 i don't know why i rambled so much on this, i've been working on finishing touches for about 12 hours and i'm in overdrive
