Home Session 025

Fuentes, a Chilean DJ/Producer, based in Montreal, Canada - has been a lover and follower of the underground electronic music scene since 1989. By sharing a bedroom and boombox with his older brothers, late night radio shows exposed him to the birth of acid house at the age of 10. He's had a love affair and understanding of House and Techno ever since. Growing up in the mid-nineties, as much as he loved his grunge rock and hip-hop like everyone his age, he stayed locked on his obsession for the underground house and techno music that would be imported from overseas. At 18 he went to his first after-hours club Sona in Montreal, putting everything in its place for him, and caught the bug that's still within him today. Through the years he's absorbed the many changes of this global underground culture, loving everything it has to offer, so he thought it's only fair to give his love back. His style of producing and DJing is multi-versatile, understanding and bridging the gaps between Deep-House, Progressive-House, Tech, and Techno. He aims to bring you a tale and voyage on the floor and delivering a sound that reflects his musical journey so far. Having spent the last 5 years taking his craft professionally as a producer, Fuentes hopes to provide music that makes a mark in this underground culture.

1st part was recorded live for the warmup I did for Sasha at Sonorama, Medellin and then we continue with a lovely guestmix by JFR in the 2nd part of the show. JFR has released in our label Clubsonica a great EP which is currently making it to the top of the charts and that has 2 outstanding remixes from jimboh and Deviu (https://www.beatport.com/release/kira-zulu/3644922). Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR hails from Mendoza and has been rising out of Argentina's progressive house underground since making his debut in 2017. Antrim's Strangers Beats and Madloch's 3rd Avenue have served as landing spots for his melodic sound. 2021 proved to be a breakout year for JFR, as the Argentine continued his upward trajectory with standout releases for UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Dreamers and the fast-rising Nature Rec. World class DJ Hernan Cattaneo has also taken a liking to JFR's sound, featuring the Argentine's music in both his live and radio sets on multiple occasions.

O cenário minguante de música eletrônica em Tocantins se assemelha ao cerrado, vegetação local que devido ao solo pouco nutritivo obriga a flora ter raízes longas para buscar nutrientes. De maneira análoga, o jovem Tonaco, de 23 anos, precisou abranger e aprofundar muito sua pesquisa, a fim de encontrar referências musicais longe da realidade de sua região. Focado sempre em internacionalizar sua música, desenvolveu sua própria identidade de som, característico de um progressivo forte e espacial, ideal para qualquer momento intenso da noite. Suas produções conseguem agregar um groove brasileiro, psicodelia, timbres fortes e obscuros, sintetizando uma mescla de suas referências que variam desde jazz, bossa nova, samba, bandas como Pink Floyd e os Djs/Produtores Hernan Cattaneo e Guy J. Essa internacionalização tem gerado frutos que podem ser comprovados por sua turnê no paquistão, bem como seus diversos lançamentos em selos e grandes gravadoras no mundo.

Paul Losev—the NYC/Miami-based founder of @naturecallsrecordings—boasts a stellar resume with releases on @worldsapartmusik, @songuaramusic, @stellarfountain, and @suprematic_sounds. For this week’s thirty-seventh Moonlight Mixtape, he’s packed a plethora of originals and aural nostalgia into a mix that—at exactly one hour long—definitely understands the assignment.

The vibrant opening track—his own “The Partét (Acoustic Version)”— feels like peering beyond the confines of daily life into a hidden consciousness that’s rich with rhythm and texture. A number of bootlegs recall a host of melodic memories, from JD Davis’ classic “The World Is Mine” vocals, to an organic rework of A-Ha’s “Take On Me.” Last week’s gorgeous Erdi Imrak collaboration “Runaway” (Songuara) is a highlight of the mix, and an hour that infuses progressive, electro, and vintage vibes ties up on an ambient note with Losev’s rework of A.M.R.’s “Sailor’s Cry.”
