Zztro

Very few debut artists have mastered the ability to create music that sounds like it’s both from the past and future, in addition to challenging musical boundaries.  But Zztro does it effortlessly.  The charismatic Detroit, MI native who raps, sings, dances and acts, is the missing link between the streets and the sheets.  He’s a brilliant mix of Rap and a little R&B.  Zztro not only crosses genres with finesse but the agile wordsmith spits verses that reflect his personality, which is all about having fun and enjoying life. 

Zztro always thought of himself as a star.  And it’s no surprise that a 7 year-old Zztro captured the attention of megastar Beyonce’ Knowles.  “She picked me out of the crowd when she made an appearance with Destiny’s Child at Michigan’s Southland Mall,” recalls Zztro.  “I was being me, dancing and she called me up and told me that I was ‘cute’.  I took that compliment and have been running with it ever since.”  With a renewed confidence, Zztro began performing at local teen clubs and amassing a strong fan base mostly comprised of loyal female followers.  He was finally putting to use the years he spent perfecting his talents, including the countless school plays, talent shows and battle dance competitions he participated in.

The all-around entertainer counts Lil Wayne (new-school) and Slick Rick (old-school) as musical influences, which is evident in the two mixtapes he’s released earlier in his career: TeamZtro Over Everything and Thank God I’m Paid.  Both compilations display not only solid ambition but the fact that he built his artistic foundation on fertile ground.  “I like how Wayne tries new things and makes it work for him it just inspires me to be myself try new things and Slick Rick is one of the greatest storytellers to ever do this.  I’m big on word play when I listen to other artists and when it comes to the music I create.”    

After opening for Travis Porter to an enthusiastic audience, the group’s manager told Zztro he had great stage presence and asked him to join the trio for additional show dates.  The positive feedback fueled his passion for entertaining yet again.  Zztro went on to open for an extensive list of notable, Grammy-Nominated Hip-Hop talent such as Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti , Meek Mill, Wale, Jacquees , Diggy Simmons, Mindless Bhavior, Jacob Latimore an many more.  “My music is my life, my reality so you’ll hear a wide range of emotions and moods.  You can go from the crib, to the club or chill out with that special someone but the overall listening experience of a Zztro disc will be about having a good time.”  It’s his excitable stage performances along with the lyrical emotions of a young man making his way in the world that will herald him the international success he is destined to have.

Zztro is finally reaping the fruits of his labor.   His dedication to his craft is a modern benchmark for any young artist and should serve as notice that the Hip-Hop/R&B game has been seriously raised.
