A distinct voice in music will surely get you noticed. Malachi SoulJah is distinct and is noticed. Born Adwin Mitchell, he fell in love with music since the womb. Leaving Trinidad at 14 years old, Malachi came to the Big Apple and quickly adjusted. He admits that even though he swam with alligators for fun as a child, learning the subway system was just as adventurous. While attending Automotive HS, his interest in DJing began to take shape and swiftly moved him into New York's music scene. He joined Aces Unlimited Sounds as a DJ, which created opportunities to meet many popular artists including Singing Melody, Jr Cat, Morgan Heritage, Tony Rebel, Sammy Dread and Johnny Osbourne.
In 2007 he transitioned from being a DJ into an artist. With years of vocal training coupled with smooth hard hitting raspy vocals, Malachi set his sights into creating spiritual, influential and enjoyable music. Always remaining conscious of his faith in God, Malachi strives to bring a new voice to a familiar sound. When compared to the vocal stylings of Buju or Mad Lion, Malachi responds, "My voice is real. This is who I am."
Not pigeon holed into genres, Malachi's vocals can be found in font and backing not only Reggae and Soca music, but R & B as well. Inspired by life experiences and aspirations, Malachi brings unique and multi dimensional lyrics and melodies influenced by Caribbean, Latin, and World music. Since 2011 Malachi has introduced his artistry to masses on stages throughout the New York Tri-State Area including opening for legendary reggae artist Luciano.
He is currently promoting his solo project “Order” and its singles “Life” and “Soul on Fire.” He is working with producers Shumpie, Yaiquab (QuabLab Productions), Judah, Richie Tech and Atik Studio.
