Medical astrology is an ancient medical system that associates various parts of the body, diseases, and drugs as under the influence of the Sun, Moon, and planets, along with the twelve astrological signs. Hippocrates, the Greek physician who is regarded as the father of medicine, insisted his students study astrology, saying, "He who does not understand astrology is not a doctor but a fool." Each of the astrological signs (along with the Sun, Moon, and planets) are associated with different parts of the human body. Also, many plants are referred to in old herbals as being "under the influence of" some planet. So then what is "psychological" astrology? Well Psychological Astrology, is not focused purely on prediction being based predominantly on the belief in one's free will and choice. Psychological or Archetypal astrology, the ancient planetary map of the soul” is looked at through the lens of depth psychology as pioneered by the 20th century Swiss psychiatrist Dr Carl G. Jung. 
Jung showed great courage in his investigation of astrology as it was considered to be "taboo", but Jung believed it necessary to explore certain taboos in order to gain a better understanding of the psyche. It's known that, when challenged by an especially perplexing case, Jung would arrange to have the patients birth chart cast in order to gain more insight into the individual. Jung went on to state: - "I must say that I very often found that the astrological data elucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand. I dare say that we shall one day discover in astrology a good deal of knowledge that has been
intuitively projected into the heavens. For instance, it appears that the signs of the zodiac are character pictures, in other words symbols which depict the typical qualities of the libido at a given moment." - C. G. Jung
