"This is music mostly inspired by recent 6pm freezing walks, with no sun, running errands and mini adventures in NY. I created the mix with tracks I've been listening to lately in Brooklyn. The reason for the calm of the mix is because 80% of the music/sounds I hear are so aggressive that this acts to balance life out and has been the score to most of my downtime recently."

Lee Bannon: Music To... Walk To

Life + Times has partnered up with BBC Radio 1 DJ and music connoisseur Annie Mac.  Every month Annie will work her magic on an exclusive mix for Life + Times that will feature a selection of her favorite new tracks.

In October, Annie released her Annie Mac Presents 2013 for the first time to the US. Since 2009, the AMP (Annie Mac Presents) imprint has introduced the world to fresh music from a variety of both established and budding artists. In support of the latest compilation, Annie is currently mid-way through a European tour with Duke Dumont, MNEK, Cyril Hahn and Lulu James.  AMP will make its way to the States for SXSW and WMC (Winter Music Conference) Miami in 2014.  Much like Annie’s live shows, this debut exclusive mix features some of the most exciting artists making electronic music right now. Here is the official track list:

The date is part of its year long pursuit to showcase the breadth of the label which will be amplified this November when their upstanding debut compilation Play It Down Presents Community will be released. Curated by the collaborative force of label boss Jesse Rose and affiliate Oliver Dollar, the forthcoming compilation will feature an array of original and exclusive tracks from the label's multitude of talent.

Having recently stirred up dance floors with ‘Work on This’ and ‘Sirens’ from Danism, Food Music returns with another quality release, this time delivered by Nick Olivetti.

Nick has been bubbling under for some years and is an experienced audio engineer who has used his skills to make a name for himself in both the house and tech house scenes worldwide. He’s released on a number of labels, earning him support from artists like Eats Everything, Annie Mac, Shadow Child, Justin Martin, Catz ‘n Dogz and many more.

With its stripped back punchy beat, ‘Love Sine’ is the perfect opener for the EP. Vocal chops and a delicate pad riff build up before tearing into a huge sub led drop. Already hailing early support from Rinse, ‘Love Sine’ is guaranteed peak time fodder.

On the flip is WTF. This track features a no messing about beat coupled with a roaring sub-line that hits hard on the drop. Modulated synth lines add sonic depth in the builds and the hypnotic pitched vocal loops keep the track moving throughout.

Nick Olivetti 'Love Sine' PREVIEW (release 29 Sep)

The last time we spoke to T.Williams he was undergoing a somewhat personal transition as he moved from his grime and bass-focused output to a more house-led sound. Bringing the shift into operation as he joined Eats Everything in the booth back in May last year, T has since come into his own dropping an upstanding EP on powerhouse PMR Records (home to Jesse Ware, Julio Bashmore and Disclosure) as well as completing a 12 date, headline tour across North America and holding down a residency at BBC Radio 1. In truth, the reason behind some producers' success at straddling the change in trends is debatable at best but with T, we've no doubt his talent stems from his long-serving part in the underground scene.

Recorded in New York City, T demonstrates the sonic roots of his ethos with this new and exclusive mix, giving us and readers a little taster of what's to come when he joins Redlight, Moxie and more in Room One later this month.

Here's the mix I compiled as entry into the Hannah Wants UK DJ search.  The mix is split into two 30 minute sections - one a warm up set, the latter a peak time set.  

There's a right range of tracks in this mix.  I've tried to express, particularly in the second part, how I love to play out whilst also offering something different to the tour, which is the ultimate prize.
