I’m excited to share my entry for the #KeralLochRemixComp! I decided to focus my exploration on an instance “outside” of the original track, only to return to that original moment at the end. When writing the piece, I chose to delve into the arpeggio texture developed by Tiersen but bring it away from the piano and into this flux/sea of sound/forms. Unfortunately, many of us don’t exist in our mother’s tongue. Language, among other mediums, is struggling to illustrate the unique circumstances experienced by the universe's infinite beings. Personally, I have wrestled with finding my authentic self as a queer person, often navigating spaces where language can’t begin to describe how I feel. My remix of the work, “Ker al Loch [I Don’t Exist In My Mother’s Tongue],” seeks to interact with this ambiguity of self/selves and welcome those willing or forced to exist within this fluid, modulating, and constantly shifting tide of existence.
