Access Point is the first in a series of releases graciously brought to Woodwork by accomplished electronic producer, Dez Williams. With a focus drawn squarely on artistry and creative intensity, Dez can change context and direction at will, while never losing the profound thread that guides each of his works. With past releases on several top labels that slot uniquely into various realms, his experiments cross over between IDM, techno, electro, and ambient cinematic soundscapes to combine different methods and feels into a delightfully cohesive puzzle... one that needs to be fully heard and pieced together. With this EP as our guided entry, the surface explored by Dez Williams in this upcoming series offers plenty we've not yet experienced.

Isolationism by Dexterous Numerics is a brooding electronic lament.  Dark menacing basslines and skittish 808 percussion combine with delicate, almost apologetic synth melodies to create a plaintive love letter to times passed and values long since discarded.

Twelve years ago Tresor Records released Terrence Dixon’s debut album ‘From The Far Future’ – a personal homage to the art and ancestry of techno, culminating in a discursive and dream-like course through the genre’s many tomes, complete with subtle nods to key protagonists such as Kraftwerk, Derrick May and Juan Atkins. A luminescent and ethereal catalogue of tracks awash with shimmery synths and taught rhythmical programming - that still holds true today, ‘From The Far Future’ made for a stunning first full length that cemented Dixon’s already proven credentials from his Population One work and Utensil Records foundations.

After a string of stylistically rich releases – including another album, ‘Train Of Thought’, this time for Cologne-based label Yore Records – the Detroit native returns to Tresor Records with ‘From The Far Future Pt.2’ – an ambitious, scopey and deeply personal sequel.

“ ‘From The Far Future’ was special in many ways. It's over 12 years later and seems like yesterday to me, it really does,” says Dixon. “ ‘From The Far Future Pt.2’ is my real life drama playing out before your ears, it has everything on this album that has something to do with where I live. I wanted to make this album as huge as it could be. This is a statement album. A variety of tracks from a minimal point of view.”

Taking the form of a fourteen-track CD and double vinyl LP, with just three overlaying tracks – the bubbly “Fountain of Life”, uplifting “Horizon” and stung out "The Study", as well as two different versions on the atmospheric builder “Dark City of Hope” – ‘From The Far Future Pt.2’ is a masterful and extensive techno album that alludes to – without relying on – Dixon’s Detroit heritage and affinities. Tracks like the CD’s three dystopic numbers: “Path to Mystery”, “The Auto Factory” and “Lead by Example”, for example, deploy recognisable tropes of techno past, spun into a unique and inherently modern Dixon vernacular. Elsewhere, warm syncopated house (“Self Centered”), wonky jazz (“The Switch”), grainy dub textures (“My Journey Here”) and smoky ambience (“Vision Blurry”) complete this rewardingly heterogeneous CD.

Complementing the headiness of the CD, the eight-track vinyl version of ‘From The Far Future Pt.2’ has been curated squarely with the dance floor in mind, allowing Dixon’s shrewd beat-smithery to come to the fore. From the tough and punchy rhythms of “Light of Day” and “Band Together” to the discordant canters of jangly anthem “Sleight of Mind” and dubby “11th Floor”, there’s something here for any fan of freewheeling and well-versed techno.

Powerful, dark and mesmerizing with a fierce undertone, that is the sound of Lostlojic on the first TECH-UM release, a project by the Deeptrax founder and Techno enthusiast Chris Roorda, aiming white labels of deeper intelligent stormy techno on very Limited Edition vinyl of only 150 pieces

Releasing under labels such as Furthur Electronix, Neo Violence or Thirty Year Records, Lostlojic is back on TECH-UM to spread his deep, funked up but ferocious sound. His experiences with different genres let him into deeper and more sophisticated realms of electronic music. His distinct sound and his experience as an excellent DJ and producer made him a perfect candidate for the first release of the newfound Frisian label. Deep sub-bass and drum-breaks with cutting, dubbed out, gloomy accents dancing together to create a poetic and hypnotic piece of art made for the dancefloor. A complete personal reflection and carefully selected project we are proud of to launch on this new Deeptrax sublabel called Tech-um!

Here is Glory Podcast with a guest mix by DJ Zaxxon. For many years he was the unmistakable "Electro King of the South the Netherlands", he was a big inspiration for many dj's, producers and youngsters, by organizing lots of events, giving room for new talent and giving workshops. He runs Recordstore Tunesville, nowadays no longer a physical store but merely on Discogs . DJ Zaxxon was the first organizer who invited me to play in venues, for which I am ever thankful. Later I was also able to return the favor to invite Zaxxon on many events I organized; I do remember one NYE where we asked him to play at 10.00 a.m. - good(morning) times !
