This week on There Is No Planet Earth Radio - I’m very excited to welcome guest DJ Tedd Patterson - For this week i’ll be airing a live recording  of his from Club USA 1993 

“Tedd Patterson is house music royalty. He has headlined with the top DJs in the world; he has released music on the most respected labels in the industry; and he has played a pivotal role in the spread of house music across the globe. Tedd’s boldly creative sets at the Magic Sessions (Miami WMC) inspired generations of clubbers and DJs, conferring on him legendary status alongside Tony Humphries and Louie Vega.

Tedd’s been spinning since the late 70’s with his ethos of “no musical boundaries—only musical journeys,” and his style owes as much to the past as to the present. His distinctive sound has earned him not only a huge, global fan base but also a career of impressive breadth and longevity. He has headlined Ministry of Sound in London, Pacha in Ibiza, and Panorama Bar in Berlin. Tedd has also brought his signature sound to Moscow, Tokyo, Montreal, and Naples.

Tedd gathered a following early on in the NYC music scene, with underground East Village parties at Sugar Babies and Save the Robots that have now evolved into regular gigs at destinations like Output, Flash Factory, and Le Bain. His Vibal party at uber-cool hotspot Cielo led to a 13- year residency and a whole new fan base. Tedd was chosen to play the first US Glitterbox at House of Yes with Simon Dunmore and also performed a ground-breaking seven-hour performance for visual artist Nick Cave at the Park Avenue Armory.

Tedd’s work in A&R and Promotion at Emotive Records during the heyday of New York dance music expanded his musical talents beyond the DJ booth and eventually led to his production debut. “Welcome to the Magic Session” was released on the iconic Strictly Rhythm label, and collaborations with heavyweights Eric Kupper, Pete Heller, and Chus & Ceballos followed soon after. His edits of Black Science Orchestra, Alicia Keyes, and Bjork, have gained cult status in the house underground.”

Italian-born but Berlin-based Eva Geist doesn’t make music so much as cinematic trips. A composer, synthesiser and vocalist, she has made albums for Macadam Mambo and Elestial Sound that draw on sythwave, leftfield electronics and ambient to make for occult sonic adventures. Her mastery of analogue machinery results in enigmatic offerings than can variously be spiritual, tribal or trance inducing, but always take you into an unusual world of rarefied melodies and soft beats.

Her mix for us is a very personal, living and breathing affair that was put together on a new setup. It’s a collection of jams, each recorded on a different day, and laced up with field recordings taken in glaciers in Kazakhstan during the filming of a documentary and art installation Eva is collaborating on (it’s called Baden Projekt and you can find details here https://vimeo.com/badenprojekt), as well as her voice, small acoustic instruments and some excerpts of speeches by Carmelo Bene, Paolo Barnard and Pier Paolo Pasolini. “It's basically a short novel about birth, consumerism, life as a big illusion and so on,” she explains. The resulting 45 minutes of ambient, drone, spoken word and found sounds is like a soundtrack to a movie that exists only in your mind, and is truly absorbing.
