 "Dub 911" (2006 nature-sounds label) is Scientist's first studio album of all new material in 3 years with "The Defenders Of Freedom" band. 
Consisting of legendary Jamaican musicians Soul Syndicate's Santa Davis,Fully Fullwood,Tony Chin,along with St.Thomas keyboardist Jawge Hughes,percussionist extraordinaireDub
(The Rippingtons),Los Angeles guitarist Dale Hauskins and April Weller on vocals,with Hawaii's Reggae singer/songwriter Doug Bautista aka HUMBLE SOUL one of Hawaii's top selling
reggae artists,and horns from the Mongoose band.
Providing the riddims and a variety of "9/11" and "America's war on terrorism" references providing the song titles. 

The album opens with "The Anti-Christ", a nice dubbed up reworking of the Soul Vendors' Studio One classic "Swing Easy". 

The rest of this album brings the listener some entertaining, well dubbed tunes (some of them with vocal snippets of Humble Soul and April Weller here and there for good measure), which provide a glimpse of Scientist's effects-riddled style and mixing wizardry he's known and respected for. 

Tuff tune "Babylon Burning",features guitarist Dale Hauskins doing a heavy lead rock guitar sound and solos. 

Jamaica's Hopeton Brown, the mixing engineer who became known as Scientist, burst onto the reggae scene in the mid 70's with a reckless mixing style that seemed to outdo even legend King Tubby's wildest extravaganzas.

Electronic Engineer & Dub Pioneer Hopeton Brown, professionally known as "The Scientist", was introduced to electronics at an early age by his father, who worked as a television and radio repair technician. He began building his own custom amplifiers and studio gear and was dubbed "The Scientist" due to his forward thinking concepts about the mixing board (i.e. moving faders & automation, documented in the 1980's). He quickly gained a reputation for his unique recording and mixing techniques, which echo to this day in the form of Dubstep and other styles of dance music. His recordings are now considered benchmarks in sound which highly influenced a new electronic music generation interested in remixing and sound experimentation. Engineer credits include albums for Reggae’s most illustrious artists as well as for Rock, Pop, and R&B superstars.

He began his career as an engineer at King Tubby's Jamaican recording studio in 1978. 

Shortly afterwards he became a protege of King Tubby, and swiftly gained a reputation with his unique and innovative mixing style. Scientist soon became Jamaica's top recording engineer and worked with everyone imaginable, including Dennis Brown, Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor, Dean Fraser, Linval Thompson, Augustus Pablo, The Heptones and many more. 

This led to a surge of albums mixed by Scientist from various sources throughout the 80's with "Scientist Meets The Space Invaders" being the most noteworthy. 

Even though "Dub 911" is one of Scientist's strongest releases.It will surely find its way to fans of Jamaican dub music.

In September of 1977 one of the worlds most influential clubs opened up in New York's Greenwich Village, at 84 King Street. No one knew back then that this club would live for a decade and that it would also give name to an own music genre - "Garage"...

The club was of course the legendary Paradise Garage or - "the Garage" as the regular guests used to refer to it. The club was owned and run by the late Michael Brody.
Prior to becoming the Paradise Garage, the place was a short lived club called Chameleon. The guys behind that club worked on turning the old garage into a club.

Chameleon opened up in December 1975 and they had Natalie Cole performing on the opening night. The club had a triangular (pyramid) sign with a Chameleon logo over the entrance and the DJ booth was also pyramid-shaped (and aligned true to North in order to garnish the most benefit from the then current fad of "pyramid power"). But the club was closed down just some months later.

When the Garage opened in September of 1977, the club was far from ready so originally there were only "construction parties" held and during this time of construction the club was called the 84 King Street Garage, to later become the Paradise Garage by the official opening in February 17, 1978.

The Garage was not fully completed by the opening and they kept throwing "construction parties" occasionally for yet another year... They even had a small wrench as the membership "card"!

The club fast became a very important piece to the now rapidly grooving Disco Music scene. The club with its very open-minded, mainly black gay clientele became one of the trendiest places in no time. Everyone wanted to know what was going on there and wanted to test their songs/remixes on the Garage audience.

As famous and legendary as the club itself was the Garage's DJ - the late Larry Levan. Larry was the resident DJ of "the Garage" and to many people he was "the Garage". Lots of people, and other DJ's, came to the club just to hear him play... He was a true master behind the turntables.
Unfortunately the club was forced to close down in September 26, 1987.

Turbo Recordings presents four killer remixes of one of its biggest tracks of the year. Featuring Tiga, Lando Kal, Gingy & Bordello, and Locked Groove.

When Turbo put out Duke Dumont's "The Giver", everyone at the label knew it had the potential to become a massive house anthem. So when it actually happened, it was gratifying to learn that a) the label's braintrust wasn't crazy and b) the rest of the world isn't completely out to lunch. With support from Annie Mac, Erol Alkan, Heidi, Diplo, Damian Lazarus, Martyn, Soul Clap, A-Trak and a legion of other big names, plenty of radio play on BBC One, and rave reviews from critics, the track has taken on a life of its own, spending numerous weeks in Beatport's Deep House Top 5.

With this in mind, the label decided to go with its instincts for the remix pack, sticking with some of its best and most exciting in-house talent while also including a respected outsider. 

REMIXERS

Turbo boss Tiga turns the Lifestyle Machine up to 11, before snapping the knob off completely with a seven and a half minute epic that is possibly even more anthemic than the original. Turbo obsessives might have noticed that this is only Tiga's second remix for the label since 2005 - after Azari & III's similarly huge "Reckless (With Your Love)" - offering even more evidence of just how significant a release this is for us.  

With releases on Hotflush, Rush Hour, and Numbers, Lando Kal has been pushing his sound more and more into the realm of gear-based Detroit-influenced techno. His version of "The Giver" continues in this vein, a tripped-out after-hours workout that's destined to become the highlight of your next warehouse party.

Toronto's Gingy & Bordello are undeniably two of Turbo's most promising rising stars, with a career path seemingly taken out of some fantastic DJ/production duo storybook. Their mix ramps up the BPM and takes things into big-room techno territory. The arrangement is long and strong, and the payoff near the end is subtle and retains the essential ecstatic tone of the original while doing away with the commercial angle. Let Gingy take you on a journey, and then let Bordello take you on a journey. It's the same journey, but still.

Hot Belgian producer Locked Groove is another of the label's emerging New Jack Techno talents. His impressive versatility is fully evident on his contribution, combining elements of hi-NRG 90s eurodance and melancholy ambient techno into something that evokes the yearning heart at the core of Belgium's other greatest export, Technotronic.
