Your mercies O my God
Are plenteous
Your mercies O my God
Have no boundaries

The drops of rain
Are counted in Your hands 
Also, the sand of the sea 
Is present before Your eyes

How much more are my sins
My trespasses are before You
And all that I have done
Are present before You

The sins of my youth
Remember them not, O Lord 
Do not contemplate 
On my sins, O God

For You desire not 
The death of a sinner
But You are ever pleased
That he returns to You

The tax-collector was chosen
The adulteress You forgave
The thief You have remembered
Your mercy is boundless

I am a sinner too
O Lord, teach me
To offer repentance
Like the adulteress, accept me

Return us, O God, unto Your salvation
For You are good and gracious

If You judge us in Your uprightness

In the Church’s embrace
We found the sweetest life
Life with our Lord Christ
Is above all success

Daniel Girgis, ordained SDn. Augustine in the Coptic Orthodox Church, has received his Master of Arts in Theology degree from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in 2021. He has also received his PharmD degree from the SUNY University at Buffalo in 2019. His research focuses on preserving Coptic tradition through the combination and reconciliation of both the oral transmission of Coptic chant and the analysis of liturgical manuscripts; using these two factors to identify and restore authentic and proper ritual practice in the Coptic Rite.
