A short rendition in Raag Charukeshi on Santoor by Kaviraj Singh with Tabla accompaniment by Upneet Singh.

I wrote the first theme of this piece a couple of years ago and could never quite figure out how to finish it. There have been many iterations of it and it has been booted off of two full length records. I guess it always seemed to be a little island unto itself. Well anyway, what better reason than to put this out into the world than #PianoDay2017?

Ghatam Giridhar Udupa (born 17 November 1980) is an Indian percussionist and a leading exponent of the ghatam. He is one of the members of Layatharanga, a team of Indian classical musicians who have embarked on the task of blending different forms of classical, folk and world music. In 2015 he founded and has since served as the director of The Udupa Foundation, a registered charitable trust with the aim of promoting music, performing arts and culture.

Contemplation (Rehearsal demo)

This is a song about the finger that points us to the moon constantly guiding us back towards it. 

It speaks to the Divinity that is all around us in everything at all times always directing us to a space of Infinity. The song aims to bring a sense of transformation (through Shiva Consciousness) from being “asleep” in the world of materialism to “awake” in the world of Divinity. It is a call to all aspects that reflect Divinity to continue guiding us towards this Infinity to our existence.
