So here is my final track of the year – Welcome to 2021. This is sort of like a summary of my next suite – the Zodiac Suite. The Zodiac suite is something I thought of in August, and I’m composing it now! I hope to upload one movement of the suite for each month – because there are 12 movements and 12 months. This is an introduction to the suite, and also the finale, (it’ll make sense once I upload the others.

2020 has been hard for everyone, so here’s this to lighten your mood. It’s an epic orchestral score that I spent over a month on! I want to thank someone very special – John Donaldson. I composed the piece, but he made it sound a thousand times better with custom audio. So Audio credit goes to him. Check out our Destiny piece too! John has some amazing videos in his channel, and his orchestration is great throughout his songs – so I would suggest you check him out.

So now - a few special well-deserved mentions to people who have supported me so much through the year.

There's only one table in the dark room. And on top of that is a plate with unknown black fruits on it.

It's astringent and may not be suitable for raw food.
It may not be suitable for food in the first place.
It may be a delicious fruit with a unique aroma.
But it may be actually very poisonous, and you may die...

Such an unknown black fruit, can you eat it?

...With a theme like this, I composed this a little dark'n'adult-like jazz.
Thanks to the combination of 3/4 time-signature and triplet, I could easily break the rhythm.
This music has the same tempo and time-signature from beginning to end.

I wanted to align the titles with ABCD, so I desperately looked up the names of the various black fruits.
But that's just for the "A". Because I originally knew plants whose names start with "B, C, D".

Btw,
A is Aronia (Chokeberry), which is an astringent fruit mainly used in processed foods.
B is Blueberry, which is a very popular fruit that is delicious whether eaten raw or processed.
C is Cherry tree, and the fruits of varieties that ain't suitable for food are sour, bitter and astringent.
D is Deadly nightshade (Bella donna), which is said to be sweet, but deadly poisonous. It's a raw material for rhinitis relief medicine.

Personally, I feel that deadly nightshade is the closest to me, because I have severe rhinitis.
But I've never taken the rhinitis medicine that it's used for.
In the first place, I don't think the medicinal properties of that don't suit my symptoms of rhinitis, hahaha!

仄暗い部屋にテーブル1つだけ、そしてその上には黒い実が載った皿があるようです。

もしかしたら生食にはあまり向かない澀みのある実かもしれません。
そもそも澀くて苦くて酸っぱくて、食用に向かないものかもしれません。
もしかしたら独特な香りの美味しい実かもしれません。
でも実は猛毒があり、食べたら死んでしまうものかもしれません・・・。

そんな得体の知れない黒い実を、あなたは口にすることが出来ますか？

・・・まあそういった感じでちょっとダークでアダルトライクな感じのジャズを作ってみたよ(意味不明)
3/4拍子と3連符の組み合わせのおかげでリズム崩し放題でした。
テンポや拍子は一切変えてないです。

どうしてもタイトルをABCDで揃えたかった(拘り)ので、色々な黒い実という実を必死こいて調べました。
まあ必死になったのはあくまで"A"の為だったんだけどね。"B,C,D"は元々知ってたものだけで揃ったよ。

タイトルの読み方は、「ランメイかサクラかセイヨウカマツカか、またはオオカミナスビか」です。
因みにAは西洋鎌柄(アロニア)で、主に加工品にされる澀みのあるアロニア属の植物。
Bは藍苺(ブルーベリー)で、何しても美味しく頂けるスノキ属の植物で、お馴染みのアレ。
Cは桜(サクラ)、お馴染みのサクラ属のアレ。食用品種じゃなきゃ不味くて食えたもんじゃないです(実体験)
そしてDは狼茄子(ベラドンナ)で、鼻炎薬の成分として知る人ぞ知るアレです。オオカミナスビ属の猛毒植物で、甘いらしいけど食べたら最悪死にます。

個人的にはベラドンナに親近感があります(重度の鼻炎)
まあ市販の内服薬使ったことないし、そもそも症状が違うけどね。
