◾How did you come up with your dj name: Ti3mpo means time in Spanish. I have always been obsessed with the concept of time and its complexity. To one person a minute can seem like an hour and an hour can seem like a minute. It ties in with music because my favorite moments have come when I lose track of time & get lost in the rhythms. You almost become teleported to a space where worries don't exist
◾When did you start djing: Been involved with music since I was 12 but started dj'ing around October 2019 and got my first gig that December
◾Favorite dj moment: One of my favorite dj moments had to be playing Odyssey afterhours in Atlanta. By no means was it my biggest show but it was one of my goals to play there after so many greats. 3 hours of bangers
◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: Favorite genres to spin are house & techno. Subgenres depend on my mood and the location/surroundings. One thing is clear, no matter what genre I play, it's going to make you groove
◾Favorite artists:  My favorite artists are all producers who balance groovy rhythms with hard beats, such as: Harvey McKay, Spektre, ARTBAT, Mathame, Marco Faraone, Dubfire, Oscar L, Pig & Dan, Paride Saraceni, Chus & Ceballos, Josh Butler, Cristoph, Dosem, Hot Since 82, Dennis Cruz, etc
◾Favorite labels: My favorite labels are: Natura Viva, Truesoul, Suara, No Art, Solid Grooves, Kraftek, Drumcode, Anjuna, Filth on Acid, Afterlife etc

FREQUENCY UNDERGROUND INTERVIEW WITH FALSE PEAKS

◾Real Name: Chris Craighead

◾Current city: Dallas, Texas

◾How did you come up with your dj name:  Back in 2014 I hiked Pike's Peak in Colorado. It was approximately a 14 mile, 7400 ft elevation gain hike up the mountain. What started out as a normal day, turned into one of the most difficult days of my life. I had elevation sickness thirty minutes in and it started snowing about seven miles in. Well, that surprise snowstorm ended up shutting down the mountain and we were the last ones on the trail. We finally summited 14 hours later, with the rangers guiding us up to the top. There were so many times I thought we were going to summit but it ended up being a false peak.

As I started listening to dj mixes, especially the more melodic techno mixes, the djs did an incredible job of creating these moments and bringing the energy in and out at different times and then driving the mix forward. With those two experiences, I came up with the name False Peaks and have enjoyed that being the ethos of every set I've played.


◾When did you start djing: I started djing late 2018. My friend, and now business partner here in Dallas, had been djing for a few years and I asked him what equipment I needed to learn how to DJ. I ended up purchasing a Pioneer XDJ-RX2 and would come home from work and spin every night for a couple hours. At the time I was heavily influenced by Keinemusic, Afterlife, Katermukke and other labels that rode the line between progressive, melodic, organic house & techno. Because of that, a lot of the tracks had to fit melodically so I picked up pretty quickly on how to create certain moments and blends of tracks.

◾Favorite dj moment: Parallax Open Air party last year def has to be one of my favorites. Seventy-five people were all huddled up under tents as it was pouring rain. The crowd was feeling it and the energy was super high. It felt like every track I played was the right one in the moment and time.

◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: I don't really have a favorite to be honest. A lot of the time I just go in with whatever tracks I'm vibing with and make it rip. When I started djing it was never about playing what genre is popular or what songs are gonna get the crowd lit, it has always been about telling a story through tracks and having it relate to where I am at with my life. DJing at first was a stress reliever. The tracks helped me heal with whatever I was going through at the time. As I've gigged more, I have learned (and am still learning) to share that story with the crowd and hope that they can relate to what is being told.

Frequency Underground | Episode 088 | False Peaks [uk garage, breaks, minimal]

Well, well, well... I bet you didn't expect to see this pop up on your feed today! After a long hiatus, the show is back again. It's been a strange year, so I removed myself from social media for a while to make sure I had my head on straight. But, now we are back and ready to bring you fresh mixes from the region's finest selectors. But before we get to all that next week, I wanted to kick things off with a set I've been holding on to for a while.

This set was recorded live at Deerfields for Haven 2 back in July. I played a late night set, which meant I was ready to light the place up with some hard, hypnotic, and driving techno. It's a whirlwind, and I hope you enjoy it. 

It feels good to be back.

Tonight is The Full Harvest Moon. It is called the Harvest Moon because at the end of September crops that were seeded in Spring are now ready to be harvested. 

This is truly a time of transformation, and the Earth is going through a major shift as it heads into Autumn. We are also each going through a major changes in our lives as the Earth's energy projects onto us. We can utilize these moments of transformation - IN THE DANCE & THE MUSIC - to become what we feel we need to be in order to adapt and find comfort in the upheaval. Pisces will make us feel a little braver and stronger, we may find that we have the courage to do things we were afraid to do in the past. Let us not be limited by our five senses perceptions. Let us simply live, and BE EMBODIED from a place of possibility and alchemy.

◾How did you come up with your dj name: After trying different names out, I had to finally settle on something when I started releasing my own music, so I just went with my real name for this project. I have a couple of other projects though, one being industrial techno/hard/dark techno, one is experimental music, and the other is psytrance.

◾Favorite dj moment: when I played Club Envy'd with Green Velvet and Reid Speed a couple of years ago

◾Real Name: Claudiu Nedelea

◾How did you come up with your dj name: a while back I made a drawing for a tattoo/ logo that i now have on my leg. The result resembled a geometric claw so that’s where Klaws came about…

◾How and when did you get into djing: 
When I was living in Charleston SC for college more than 15 years ago, a friend of mine from Morocco, Gadi bought some dj equipment and started organizing cool little house parties, which made me wander how the music that I had would fit together. I was immediately hooked and gave it a shot. After that I started playing at parties and clubs in Charleston as well as back in Romania and France for some time before moving to Greenville.    

◾Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: My inspirations and influences come from many diverse Places such as Romanian breakbeat artists Suie Paparude, all the Detroit techno wizards or some of the earlier Paul Ritch sounds. Not to forget jazz, dub or funk classics. 

◾Describe your sound as a DJ: a blend of dubbed out minimal, deep techno grooves, and a sprinkle of ChicAgo house wrapped together in a funky mixture with lots of dub vibes. According to the settings I play in, I like to keep it deep, spacey, and with a driving groove. 

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: looking forward to an original Klaws release for Pure Perception Records coming up soon, and planning an amazing 48+ hours of music & vibes at Pangea festival - June 10 to 12. More musical collaborations and shows to be announced..😉.

Hailing from Puerto Rico, Didactic (aka David López) is an Atlanta based DJ, Producer, Engineer & Musician. Disregarding musical boundaries, he works in various genres from House & Downtempo to Electronic Pop & Reggae. 

As a musician from a young age, and with over two decades in the music industry & electronic music scene, his sound is innovative, technical & evocative. 

As a DJ, his sets focus heavily on House Music,  blending Deep, Minimal, Organic, Afro-Latin & Dub rhythms with hints of melodic and progressive elements. His quintessential long-mix style & seamless blending of sonic layers produces an expansive auditory journey through space.
