The instrument is Clavia Nord Stage 2 using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano and a few touches of synth.

This Song without Words strikes me as almost overflowing with melodies. They come in various shapes, but produce an attractive forward momentum and a positive mood, the minor tonality notwithstanding. The middle section provides contrast of key and melodic shape, but maintains the character. Only in the coda, where the opening tune returns at half speed, does the music offer a sense of poignancy and heartache.
