Fall 2013 is the very special time for Ukraine and Europe...EU door starting barely to open for Ukraine under mafiosi like current prez and "family"....while Russia still refer this former colony as its own province...

 Barbarians of XX century choose Ukraine and its people as "cannon fodder" in their bloody games of both World War I and II ...for ideas and values that turns humans into the slaves of mighty state ...

 European Union will give Ukrainians peace and may be prosperity....and in return Ukraine will make much more peaceful Europe, insuring that resurection of Russian Impire will be just a pipe dream of old commy ...

Russia can only give misery,wars and slavery to its people and invaded lands as it was for the most of last 300 years in Ukraine.

Cherni Variation

While many in North America will disagree - today is March 1 and for most in Eastern Europe this is start of the Spring...this melody was inspired by power and beauty of great classic verse of Ukrainian poet Mukola Filyanskiy'  " I znov ,i znov vesna...' more like final accord of life reflection ...and the old man feeling that this one may be also his last...

Love triangle

This beautiful chant they say originated somewhere in 12-13 century...appeal to Mother of God for protection ...may be as response to barbarian devastation of Eastern Europe by Mongol invaiders ...and later during Barocco period was arranged by Bortnyanskiy (1751-1825). Also this melody  famous as Kyevan Chant from lavra ....It is absolutely stunning music with the full church choir that usually  performed during Lent  before Easter...

This is my fav. track...

First verse by V.Lebedova lovely lines about Bandura...originally this is very popular folk song about love...but in this variation with complete new set of words it is more about power of music and song to heal people souls...perhaps a bit nostaligic...
Second one by O.Oles' (1906) very powerful and gentle in the same time...great ode to the freedom fighters and to the memory of those who gave up their lifes for it....
Second last by V.Chumak (1919) fascinating short verse full of imaginary about miracle of creating great song...
And lastly great lines by M.Zerov about Kyiv....I'm truly believe this is most best poetry about this great city ever existed...simply fantastic!

and last one about  freazing horrors of NKVD in Ukiraine during 30s of 20 century...and this extreeme high hero feeling of very lucky survivor - while many millions was killed by endless repressions of Soviets.

Last two of Oles'....you  can feel how poetic mastery is changing...two verses almost 20 years apart ...first about misery and heavy nostalgia in exile and second one about great hope for Ukrainian rebirth....- it is happen not in 1908 but 80 years later....1991

Very different but evenly remarkable verses....light nostalgia of the first....as you see it is 100 years old...but feels like it was created just yestersday...

Desperation with no hope of the second....love triagle with resignation of the third... 

And finally poetic last will of Lesya Ukrainka....first 4 lines of this verse is decorating her monument in Kiyv...where I first read them many years ago...was very impressed with its striking beauty ...

It is up to all of us who is able to speak Ukrainian to promote and preserve the beauty of our spoken word...especially today when modern Sovoks wants to push Ukrainian again to the brink of extinction...back to the USSR.

Idea of this CD was very simple....just by best examples to show evident proof of great poetic genius of Oleksandr Oles' and his incredibly beautiful and melodic verses...He is #1 Ukrainian poet of  20th century....was completely banned during Soviet time in Ukraine....so many generations of Ukrainians never heard of them...

His responce to the ignorants and haters of Ukrainian was beautiful verse

 "Oh , my native word ,chained eagle ! "

If you able to understand a bit Ukrainian its truly absolute stunning lines....each word with meanings of many pages...and so beautifully crafted....

By joining enormous  piano spaces  of  SC I feel somewhat  like Avatar at the end of his space epic ...all this incredible and limitless beautiful piano tunes ... quite often is  giving me joyful thrills with  dependency  of addiction ...
