Ce concert est dédié à mes élèves avec un programme composé de pièces illustrant leur parcours instrumental et musical au cours des trois cycles d'étude au conservatoire.
Ce projet a été réalisé en partenariat avec Alexandre Douvry responsable de la Bibliothèque musicale Arlette Sweetman (La BmAS est située dans les locaux du conservatoire de Rungis)

Steinway artist, Chad Lawson, decided Chopin needed a new introduction.  Along with violinist Judy Kang (Lady Gaga, Ryuichi Sakamoto) and cellist Rubin Kodheli (Kanye West, Norah Jones), Lawson has arranged ten Chopin works into a minimalist landscape.

It's a risk editing the "poet of the piano" but one that Chopin would be proud of.  

Taking 10 Chopin works, Lawson decided to scale the works down to a minimalist setting.  "I knew even if bare-bones, Chopin's works could still be as spellbinding as the original compositions we are so familiar with." says the pianist.  

Produced by Chad Lawson & Alejandro Clavijo. Mixed by Stephen Lee Price.  Mastered by Michael Graves of Osiris Studios (Atlanta, GA).

"La petite fille de la mer" [The Little Girl From The Sea] composed by Vangelis in 1973 for Frédéric Rossif's documentary "L'apocalypse des animaux" [The Animal Apocalypse].

The instrument is a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Fender Rhodes Mark I electric piano, a high-pitched sampled Fender jazz bass guitar, a sampled CS-80 synth, and some delay and reverb. I'm using room mics as I find some of the noises such as breathing or pedal can actually be quite nice.

The painting is by Vangelis.

Frédéric Chopin - Nocturne in C sharp minor no. 20 'Lento con gran espressione' op. posth.

A rather elegant waltz that makes frequent use of hemiola rhythms and does its best to enjoy the somewhat gloomy key of C# minor: certainly, by the end, the melody is singing out (without words, of course) in full voice and heart - personally I finding that thrilling

La valse d'Amélie, composed by Yann Tiersen for the French movie released in 2001.

The instruments are a Kawai VPC1 controlling a Nord Stage 2 using a sample Yamaha C7 grand piano with effects.

Piano Concerto No. 23 K. 488, 2nd movement: Andante/Adagio in F-sharp minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1786).

The instrument is a Clavia Nord Piano 3 using a sampled extra soft Bösendorfer 130 upright piano, with effects, and a sampled Willow flute.
