Memory Allocator

Careering through the red sandy desert it was hard to see through the fog. There was but a faint line in which the sky met the open plains before them as they bounced and shuffled atop the dusty outback in their little buggy.

From time to time they'd catch a brief glimpse through the smog to see the sunlight up above but sooner than it had come it would vanish in a flash plunging them once again into the smokey abyss of the great unknown.

The journey had always been a perilous one, even in the best of conditions and circumstances it was a challenge for the most ardent of adventurers.

This was what separated them from the rest, an explore 2.0 if you will. The keenest of the keen and the only team that might be able to transcend the reckless wasteland which was this red desert of chaos.

Frankfurt producer n9oc releases a new EP on Die Orakel, a futuristic release which draws influence from UK bass, deconstructed club sounds and Techno. It's as pensive as it is euphoric in moments.

PREMIERE: n9oc - Explorer 2.0 [Die Orakel]

For Erika’s second album “Anevite Void”, she explores her live process as it permeates everything she does, including documenting the process of life in the elaborate sci fi mythology she created. 

@erikadotnet began performing live in Ectomorph in 1997 when she was gifted a TR-606 by BMG and asked to join the group. This grew to her building her own studio, performing solo as Erika, collaborating with people like Jay Ahern and Noncompliant, and performing as a member of Circle of Live. Her depth of thought and clarity of vision has led to her mentoring people on live performance through the In Bloom platform, where she has made a large impact on many up and coming musicians. 

“Anevite Void”, Erika’s new album, finds her organically writing songs for her live shows, allowing them to take shape through performance, and later recording them in the studio, making this the first album she has entirely written and produced on her own. Mixed by long time collaborator BMG, she finds this record as the launching point for a new process for her.

Conceptually, this album was inspired by “the irregular life cycles created by three suns circling over a planetary organism that presents two major biomes: rocky crystalline desert, and deep layered forest, each of which exists above and/or below ground, depending on what phase the suns are in.” From this realm the album took shape. She also chronicled this concept in drawings but found this painting by Detroit puckish punk legend Nai Sammon perfectly visually explained the concept, and chose it for the cover. She describes “each track is about an organic process that occurs: acts of survival of the biomes, or what happens between them and the multitude of other beings that they host.”

Erika is currently splitting her time between being based in Berlin and Detroit, is part of the triumvirate that runs Interdimensional Transmissions (BMG, Erika and Amber) that are releasing this record and produce legendary events such as No Way Back, Samhain and Return to the Source. She performs live and DJs and collaborates and oozes sonic truth in its many forms. Visit the “Anevite Void” in early 2023.

Anevite Void

Erika - Anevite Void (Preview Clips) [IT 50]

Up here in the mountains, above the clouds, sunrise was the most beautiful time of day. Everything was still and silent, from the green hills to the sleepy towns in the valley, except the intermittent buzz of insects and soft whistling of birds in the distance. The sky was hued with hazy pinks and burnt oranges as the sun began its journey into the sky and light started to spread across the landscape. The world began to wake from its slumber and the cycle of the day began once more.

Seb Wildblood's first release of the year - a three-track EP titled vitara 3000 - comes via Istanbul-based imprint Oath. Marking his first material since last May's sophomore long player do you feel it too?, the music represents a new creative chapter in his life physically and sonically. Having moved to LA from London a few years back, the tracks that form the EP, a nostalgic, blissed out broken beat affair, were spawned from him finding his first proper studio space in the city, and showcases the 'sound and energy' that this new location stimulated in his creativity and production.

Opening up with celestial synths, 'Inverted Refractions' bleeps, judders and manipulates to create an abstract canvas of warbling bass and staccato hi-hats and rim shots. It's a playful dance from the mind of @n9oc. Released 10 February via @die-orakel.

Donato Dozzy, Marco Shuttle and Ultrastation are among the names on these great remix package on the trustworthy SoHaSo label. After two well received EP's -Laren and ZL2- Bas Dobbelaer and Vand asked a few like-minded spirits to reset the dials of some of their best work. With their melancholic, melodic and highly detailed techno-infused productions, the two Dutch producers carved a name for themselves over the last four years.

Italian producer Donato Dozzy takes Transit (a track from 2019) into a lush, green forrest. Where dew water is still dripping from the trees while string-like melodies slowly swirl around them. Beautiful stuff.

Gal Tsadok-Hai takes a similar path, though his take on Gateway to Gaia is a bit gloomier. Dusk is setting in and so is melancholia.

Same goes for Marco Shuttles version of Reflect, a track from 2021. The London-based Italian producer left out kickdrums and basslines, settling instead for a feverish percussion-infused meditation.

Once on the flipside, the club vibe truly kicks in. With a minimalist, bassline heavy remix by Shoal of Story of Blade and an equally effective techno remake from Ultrastation, who turns Runner into a hypnotic peak time monster.

This compilation reminds us that one of the most important things in the universe is to keep it real, true, honest and passionated in what we like and love, in this case deep emotions through sonic experiences, emotional intelligence mixed with a bunch of nerdy tactics.

emotional waves vol.01 - 12'' snippets

Now in its tenth year, Frankfurt-based record label Die Orakel has earned itself a strong catalogue of classy releases in a distinct sonic and visual attitude, its latest being a compilation called Braindance. 

A fair assumption about Braindance as a genre could be, that it's rather in the zone of kaleidoscopic and whimsical quirktronica, less about IDM's futurist tropes. From Die Orakel's point of view, its very own Braindance compilation marks the label's tenth anniversary by releasing an intense listener's atlas, to its own and their creative collaborators' musical slant of mind.

While much could be said about spectral traces of a leftfield past, nostalgia isn't heard anywhere. The more you listen to this selection, the deeper the tracks plug into your brain—stretching from ethereal harmonic licks rippling with fragile glitches, bleepy to bass-heavy electroid steppers of any BPM range, to abstract-scientific neo-modular artistry.

Braindance

Die Orakel is a Frankfurt based music platform run by Oliver Hafenbauer.

Die Orakel (Engl. the oracles) might not know it all but has the capacity to observe and sense it: Oliver Hafenbauer's imprint operates as an experimental field for electronic music on the playfully indecisive end where it exceeds genre-specificity to focus on tunes that function beyond. This is not to say that there are no four-to-the-floor productions. The Frankfurt-based label features contributions by artists like Reptant, Poly Chain, Edward, Roman Flügel, upsammy or O-Wells, all known as dance floor doyens. The releases yet encompass what can slip the attention on a traditional dance label. Uplifting and downtempo appear here as two categories that do not exclude each other. The visual representation of the venture is undertaken by Stefan Haag and label boss Oliver Hafenbauer himself, who have a clear approach to communicating Die Orakel’s standards.
