When I started my DJ journey, I once expressed my aspiration to perform at Fusion Festival. Today, I stand in awe and gratitude, incredibly proud to have been a part of such an extraordinary experience. A big thank you to the whole crew from the Extravaganza floor for this unique moment and to all people who shared these special 150 minutes with me <3

My sets consist of tracks that continuously engage in a dialogue with each other - resulting in a flowing tapestry of drum rythms, sounds, and melodies.

Our love for @la-fraicheur solidified earlier this year -  May 27th, 2018 - when Berlin's club community organized a massive demonstration in the streets against Germany's far-right AfD party (our 72,000 protesters vs. their 5,000).   Buttons, along with other Berlin-based collectives, like Gegen, R4R, & Cocktail d'Amore, created the "Queer Block" in order to represent our colorful voices, and  La Fraicheur was there playing an integral role throughout the day; attentively making sure that all the organizers had what they needed and asking how she could lend a hand.  

This mixture of combining politics with raw emotion can be heard on her debut LP "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy," out now on French label Infiné.  We're excited to host her at our next party - October 19-20, 2018 - alongside Noncompliant aka @djshiva , who is included in the upcoming remix EP of La Fraicheur's album.

'Pili Pili' is the legendary band of Jasper van´t Hof from the 80s / 90s.  

In 1984 he presented the  project, which is still successful today, in which European jazz is combined with African music and danceable grooves. The title track of the first LP, a 15-minute trance production with African drums, made him famous overnight on the dance floor of the club scene. Singer Angelique Kidjo was discovered and Pili Pili played in changing line-ups in Europe for 20 years. In 1998 the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote: “The Afro Beat by Pili Pili is more than just a fashionable exotic colour. Its originality is combined with instrumental virtuosity that is unique to jazz. Pili Pili houses rock and funk under one roof. ” 'Dance Jazz Live' is the title of one of the Pili Pili CDs and still the group's motto."  (taken from Afro-Jazz-Fusion State Jazz 2018 Press release)

In the words of @JepeJustJohn ...

'I got in touch with Pili Pili on a tour to Innsbruck and then North of Italy, Bolzano in 2010.  It was on the radio randomly playing in the car whilst we were driving. I managed to get the name and fell in love with the whole album. I have to be honest that i never have heard about them before. I felt like i was crate digging in a record shop when I discovered that pearl. In my version, I wanted to play it a bit faster and with a more powerful beat, so decided to make an edit. It took me some weeks until i was happy with the result without killing the vibe and the structure of the awesome original. Somehow, I sometimes think that editing some great tracks is a sort of "sacrilege" with art... Nevertheless... this was the result:)'
