Los Ángeles de Charly son un grupo musical mexicano liderado por el vocalista del mismo nombre Carlos "Charly" Becíes. 

El grupo se formo en 1999 luego que Charly Becíes y su compaero vocalista Guillermo "Memo" Palafox dejaron el popular grupo Los Angeles Azules. 

Al igual que Los Angeles Azules, son exponentes máximos de la cumbia romantica de México.

Laboriosa y ascendente, la triunfal historia de Los Angeles de Charly transcurre en gran medida, alrededor de su primer vocalista Carlos "Charly" Becíes.

Nacido en México Distrito Federal, Carlos Charly Becíes vivió mucho tiempo en Veracruz, la tierra de sus primeros cantares y sus primeros amores, por lo cual se considera 'jarocho' de corazón.

Comenzó en la música cuando tenía 12 años de edad. Aún estaba en la escuela primaria. Y lo más divertido de esos 'recitales' es que sus compañeros solían pagarle con comida, e incluso con dinero, cada vez que se iban a las jardineras y él se ponía a cantar. 

"Fui profesional desde el primer momento", recuerda con cierta nostalgia.

En su actual oficio de cantante dedicado cien por ciento a la música romántica ya lleva 20 años, un lapso en que ha impuesto una forma de cantar que se asocia directamente con el brillante color de su voz, por lo cual mucha gente comienza a definirlo como "el estilo Charly".

Si tuviera que resumir sus logros y tal vez mostrarlos en una película, o en una miniserie, estas dos décadas de carrera han tenido agitados episodios. 

Pero su capítulo fundamental se produce en 1999 cuando nacen Los Angeles de Charly e incursiona por primera vez por sí mismo en la industria del disco contando con el apoyo y el respaldo de un grupo de músicos que ya tenían una sólida experiencia como integrantes de otras asociaciones.

El nacimiento y crecimiento de este grupo, sin embargo, tuvo que atravesar algunas viscitudes... Al dejar su anterior grupo, Los Angeles Azules, y montar su propia agrupación, Charly Becies se llevó consigo el estilo musical de ellos, esto derivó en demandas legales ante instancias judiciales en contra de Los Ángeles de Charly por intepretar temas bajo el estilo creado por Los Ángeles Azules.

 Esto se solucionaría tiempo después bajo acuerdo y es cuando Los Ángeles de Charly graban temas del autor argentino Alejandro Vezzani para separarse de los temas de los hermanos Mejía Avante, formadores de Los Ángeles Azules.

Es así como con perseverancia, responsabilidad y disciplina, a partir de su primera grabación comenzaron a ganarse en forma instantánea un espacio que hoy día sigue consolidándose.

Expertos narradores de experiencias propias y ajenas, y un contenido poético que rescata lo mejor del lenguaje cotidiano, estos son Los Angeles de Charly.

Could Nasser Baker be the next huge talent unearthed by Objektivity boss Dennis Ferrer? We certainly think so. Displaying a real maturity in his productions and a distinct lack of vocal fear, Nasser delivers quality, time and again.
 
Off of the strength of his first ever release and label debut, ‘Salutations EP’ (Objektivity, 2013) came the 2015 'Deadlines EP' (Objektivity), followed by the 'Future Primitive EP (Objektivity, 2016). Keeping it busy in between the original releases, Nasser has delivered a couple of stellar remixes for PMR, Objektivity, Nervous and more. His 2016 endeavour, the ‘Gramercy EP’ on Suara received great reviews and showed off Nasser’s more techier side. Follow-up releases didn’t disappoint. Both ‘Just Like That EP’ (2017, Objektivity) and ‘Say Something’ (2018, Circus) received raving reviews and connected brilliantly where it matters most – the dancefloor.
 
The 2019 marked a collaboration with Yulia Niko on ‘Someone I’m Not’, another banger called “Shake It Shake It” (both on Objektivity) followed by the now classic ‘Bodytude EP’ on Relief. A “rising artist with a sound and musical taste well beyond his years” according to upfrontbeats.com, Nasser choses quality over quantity time and gagain, and Bodytude EP is the proof. Title track ‘Bodytude’ opens the EP is fine style as Baker combines infectious lead synth with hooky male vocals and bumping low-end tones to reveal a lively cut typical of his ever-maturing production style, whilst ‘Pickelhollaback’ introduces a more off-kilter arrangement as layered vocal samples work alongside soaring melodies, driving percussion arrangements and sporadic bleeps and sonic effects go to work to shape up proceedings.
 
Feeding off the success of Bodytude, Nasser releases his ‘Tribes of The Metronome’ on Dirtybird in 2020. The title single's stuttering bassline and simple vocals is an example of how to have maximum impact without being overproduced. The flip side, 'About You' is a tech house track with a house music feel - dirty bass and a playful lead line, accented by a straightforward phrase that proves effective.
 
After taking a couple of months to regroup and recharge in the studio, the next brainchild of Nasser was ready to meet the world. 2021 marked Nasser’s return to Relief with the ‘Funky Uncle EP’ followed by his remix of ‘Whisper’ (Ferrer & Disciples, Defected) shortly after.
 
Currently back in the studio wrapping up the next batch of fresh beats, Nasser is excited for the world to go back to normal and can’t wait to share the dancefloor with everyone once again.

Passion, Pain, Motivation, Inspiration, Dedication...An artist who paints pictures on an audio canvas. 

At the 1987 WEA sales meeting in Miami, Elektra Chairman/CEO Bob Krasnow introduced his newest find, a young African-American singer/songwriter named Tracy Chapman. The Cleveland-born folksinger – who would have fit perfectly on Jac Holzman’s early Elektra roster – stood at the podium, alone with her guitar, and sang emotionally resonant songs with provocative titles like “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution.” Those assembled were blown away by Chapman’s passion and talent, but mainstream commercial potential? Not so much.

Krasnow, on the other hand, heard in Chapman an authentically original voice and personality, fresh and distinct from the current music scene. By the time the two returned to the annual WEA gathering the following August, Chapman’s self-titled Elektra debut album had proven an unlikely #1 phenomenon on the Billboard 200, highlighted by the top 10 pop hit, “Fast Car.” Ultimately certified six-times platinum by the RIAA, Tracy Chapman also earned Chapman her first two Grammy Awards, for “Best Contemporary Folk Album” and “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.”

The album should have been impossible to follow, but 1989’s Crossroads proved an inspired, platinum-certified second act. Matters of the Heart was released in 1992, followed three years later by New Beginning, featuring the platinum-certified single, “Give Me One Reason,” a top 3 hit on Billboard’s “Hot 100” and 1996 Grammy Award winner for “Best Rock Song.”

Two further Elektra releases followed before Chapman made her Atlantic Records debut with 2007’s Where You Live. Hailed as being among the most powerful works of her career, the acclaimed collection fully ratified Tracy Chapman’s continuing status as pop’s preeminent folk voice.
