Sucedió en una tierra lejana
Con los labios que están sellados
Y fuego ardiente sobre las montañas salvajes
Ella me pidió de tocar todas las estrellas

No con mis dedos o mis manos
Pero con los sonidos de las sombras
'Todas las estrellas', le pregunté con asombro
'Se puede omitir unos pocos, pero no más’

Se sonrió tentadoramente mientras
se levantó y caminó hacia el mar
Graciosamente ella entró en el resplandor
De la luz de la noche de esta tierra lejana


Touching All the Stars

It happened in a land far away
With lips that are sealed
And burning fire over wild mountains
She asked me to touch all the stars

Not with my fingers or my hands
But with the sounds of the shadows
‘All the stars’, I asked in amazement
‘You can leave out a few but not more’

She smiled invitingly while she
Stood up and walked to the sea
Graciously she stepped in the shimmer
Of the evening light of this far land

Het gebeurde in een ver land
Met lippen die verzegeld zijn
En brandend vuur over de wilde bergen
Vroeg ze me om alle sterren aan te raken

Niet men mijn vingers of mijn handen
Maar met de klanken van de schaduwen
‘Alle sterren’ vroeg ik haar in verwondering
‘Je mag er enkele vergeten maar niet meer’

Ze glimlachte uitnodigend terwijl ze
Opstond en naar de zee wandelde
Vol gratie stapte ze in de glinstering
Van het avondlicht van dat verre land

Tocando Todas Las Estrellas

When I sit in front of my piano I wait for the muse to come and she is my guide when she comes. I have learned over the years not to give in eagerly to 'wanting to create' but rather allowing 'being guided by the muse'. It is very rewarding and I hope you enjoy.
