🗯🗯 Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style? 🗯🗯

In the grand scheme of things, the job is...and always will remain the same. Moving people. However, regarding the delicate balance between head and crotch music, the scales have tipped considerably to the side of cerebral provocation in the absence of the dance floor physicality. This pandemic year has not substantially altered my music collecting or production habits, but has simply re-arranged my moods. Mirroring or channeling prevailing feelings with honesty and authenticity is the name of the game. So. Short answer. A little bit slower, a tad introspective, but always funky. I mean....

🗯🗯 What’s your favorite drink while being behind the decks in the Club? 🗯🗯

Mezcal and lots of water. Sip one, gulp the other. Sometimes switch it up.

🗯🗯 How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration? 🗯🗯

I ALWAYS imagine a friend's face in absolute ecstasy as I play a certain part of certain track. That's the starting point. From there, I free-associate and connect the dots between highs and lows, always imagining that friend in the room. I keep them happy and engaged. For this mix, I thought of my friend Alex in Brooklyn giggling as he sings along to 'Sexy disco, sexy disco, na-na-na!'

In Diego Suarez's life, time oscillates between the worlds of wellbeing and artistic creation. As a child, he spent his free time practising gymnastics and playing the piano. Today he is involved in performance training, holistic wellness and music production. DJ sets are increasingly rare, but carefully chosen.

The search for a dynamic balance on the psychophysical level finds its continuation in the creation of acoustic scenarios that move between essentialism and attention to detail. The arrangements move around a stable core, creating and releasing tension.

Higher State Of Elevation represents Diego Suarez's debut as a producer: a playful and light-hearted approach, achieved with the collaboration of Camillo Corona, whose class shines through in the mixdown.

Following a long phase of sound research and experimentation with field recordings, Diego uses a capture of his vocal improvisation recorded from an old iPhone to present himself naked and sincere. Philosophy Of Desire is mixed by MadMaxim, who beautifully interprets the personal and introspective mood.

From this shared understanding with MadMaxim, a joint project was born, culminating in Ode To The Lobe, the fruit of intense experimentation and millions of micro-decisions.
