Klute - FABRICLIVE x Commercial Suicide Mix

This is a two part, two hour journey into the world of Nero, and the incredible Legacy they have left behind in dubstep.

As a lifelong lover of music and a huge fan of Nero and what was once great dubstep, I wanted to arrange and showcase their incredible catalogue of proper bass music. This era was the last time dubstep was produced in a manner considerate of the overall journey and soundscape of DJ'ing and presenting music in a fashion that enables the listener to get lost in the journey and experience something more than just a DJ spinning a track in a club. Besides producing amazing radio worthy vocal songs full of soul and re-playability, they have always remained true to the original dubstep sound, by incorporating a foundation of melody, atmosphere and emotion, before accenting it properly with the wobbles and dub synths we love for shock value.

This mix consists of 37 originals and remixes from Nero. In order to present the music in the progressive journey format that people love and respect from house and trance music, 30 of the 37 tracks are edits that I re-arranged to allow for seamless blending and continuity of the mix. Considering all different BPMs, energy and styles of music they have, this was carefully crafted to excite and envelop the listener in a progressive tale of bass music. There is not one other presentation of this music in this way I am aware of, making this a true 1 of 1 mix, in the world.

The journey is crafted as I would expect an epic club or festival set to be; opening with attention grabbing, high energy tracks with big drops. Progressing into their engaging house tracks & well known vocal arrangements. As it develops, it dives deeper into the entrancing and orchestral tracks that they have solidified their reputation on. We visit all styles of dubstep from 2009-2015 in this mix, coming to a close with the beautiful and melodic remixes and originals that keep the energy strong while engaging the heart and soul and letting the listener down softly, as we reflect on the incredible musical road we've just traveled. Just when we're saddened by the realization it has almost come to an end, there is always.. one more song.

If you're an old dub head, you'll know most of these nostalgic tracks. If you're a new dub lover, may this show you a different side to dubstep than you may be used to, and let it inspire you to think about things differently and try something new... or old.

Still widely saluted for his own inimitable take on the 170bpm spectrum, Danny Byrd is proving to still be one of the drum ‘n’ bass scene's most illustrious of players. His seductively soulful and seamlessly vocal laced productions have been some of the most forward thinking and anthemic cuts to come from the Hospital Records camp, releasing three studio albums and a fleet of EPs on the major imprint since the turn of the millennium. Lately, it seems he's been a little quiet on the studio front, having released his last EP for Hospital back in 2013, but the Bath-based producer has still been seemingly busy, reworking fresh jams from Stanton Warriors and dabbling in a string of festival and club dates, including an anticipated return to our own musical haunt this Autumn.

Providing a trademark aesthetic within the Drum & Bass sphere and a vibe that's second to none, Spearhead return to Village Underground on Friday 22nd November with a range of producers and selectors who have helped to shape the sound of the imprint.

Familiar faces from the Spearhead crew Bcee, Commix and Dexcell head up the bill with a stellar special guest who is soon TBA. Founder of the long-standing Inperspective label, Chris Inperspective, also joins the Spearhead family alongside Becky Saif and DJ Dazee.

MCs Ruthless, Visionobi, Texas and Seige complete the showcase, each of whom will undoubtedly take things up a notch throughout the night.

A Shocking New Vision Of Bass Destruction

This is one of those moments.

Dieselboy - Unleashed! is his most layered and nuanced studio mix to date. Returning to his old school mixtape roots where he isn’t limited to what tracks he could use or license, Dieselboy has used the opportunity to take Unleashed! to another level. 

56 tracks were used to craft a deep and extensive 73-minute mix that reveals itself only after repeated listens. Steering away from banging out an "of-the-moment" forgettable dancefloor rinseout, Dieselboy throws down a wide variety of current and classic tracks and edits, wrapping up the mix with 25 minutes of finely diced dubstep that showcases his current taste in the genre and forthcoming tracks from his dubstep label, Subhuman. Finally, the project is given a tongue-in-cheek graphic treatment that references the exploitation sci-fi fantasy movie posters of of the 1970s. It looks  and sounds hardcore.
