Die Wilde Jagd - Ginsterblut (Live at Noods Radio Bristol, 2018)

Towering Brazil nut trees shrouded the dusty dirt track, only slivers of blue sky could be soon through the leaves overhead. The air was humid and thick beads of moisture clung to the green plants that bordered the path. In the distance the sound of drums could be heard, while a chorus of insects and birds buzzed and chirped in chaotic harmony, each vying for attention. The drum beat grew louder and louder as the dirt track opened up into an expansive clearing. A huddle of men slapped thick wooden drums with almighty force, sending messages out into the atmosphere and creating a soundtrack to the rainforest they call home. 

After an almighty string of releases it's been a hot minute since Swiss duo In Flagranti released their 30-track album Sprezzatura on their own Codek label. Now they return with Super Success, a four-track EP taking in all manner of influences from slow dance to heavy percussion and jacking house.

For Breathing Room’s sophomore release, the Toronto based label look to Swiss multi-instrumentalist Bixi to supply the goods. The German producer exudes warm and tropical vibes across the five track vinyl release entitled ‘Aquarius’. Rich in deft live instrumentation and clever sample work, an organic feel flutters through each track with bubbling water, forest-inspired atmosphere, ethnic percussion and gentle handclaps the order of the day. Once again the release is presented with beautiful artwork by 3D and visual artist Maks Pihs. Definitely a label to keep an eye on.

"Deeply atmospheric from the off, the latest release from US label Noisy Meditation comes from Stiver and wow, are you in for a treat if you like deep, dubbed out electronica with oodles of soul and cerebral qualities. Easing us into the Hollow EP is the title track, which is full of warm, throbbing bass, gentle echoes of vocal and crackling white noise in the background throughout. The story continues with the eerie and unnerving "Paralyzed" which evokes a feeling of loss and haunting via sweeping atmospherics, muffled Burial-like beats and distorted vocal snippets. Next we have "Just Friends" - another contemplative cut, stripped back to the bare essentials, before "Merged" completes the EP with warm, cooing instrumentals, quirky SFX and ticking beats." - review by Juno

Tagliabue: "Original track is an electronic piece of music from 1995’s album, full of exotic influences. I found it when I was digging some new sounds from the past years and I really loved it. Later, I decided to re-work on it and I thought about an alternative version. I use to spin slow music (at wrong speed, from 45 to 33 rpm) and the result is a new “slow-tempo” track inspired by Afro-Cosmic and Progressive scenario of the 90’s in Italy."

Aber Hallo ist ja schon wieder 1 Tag vor Weihnachten --- war nicht gerade erst Sommer. Aber ich wäre ja nicht der Elektro Uwe wenn ich es nicht schon geahnt hätte. Deswegen gibt es auch dieses Jahr ganz selbstverständlich wieder ein kleines Xmas Special Schmankerl für eure Ohren. Wie jedes Jahr suche ich mir hierzu immer einen ganz besonderen Künstler/in aus meiner Sammlung von DJs aus … folgende Eigenschaften sollte dieser dann haben: bisschen verrückt, ungewöhnlichen Musikgeschmack und in keine Schublade passen … weder quer noch längs. Und für dieses Jahr hab ich da einen langjährigen Weggefährten ausgewählt … Daensen von der drosssel-Gang aus Berlin erfüllt alle Anforderung für ein schönes Kontrastprogramm zu White Christmas und Plätzchen und lässt euch garantiert in den Leerlauf-Modus kommen.
