We are excited to announce the launch of our new White Label Series with who other than Lakim! We've been planning this series for some time now and are glad it is finally becoming a reality. Since Soulection is always finding new artists and sounds we wanted to really focus and simplify the music into a new platform. Every Soulection White Label project will consist of only 2-4 tracks and really highlight the true craftsmanship of each artist. Lakim is a perfect introduction for this launch. This installment of our White Label Series comes from 21 year old LA-based producer and drummer, J Louis. You may remember Mr. Louis as the resourceful young man who experimented with beatmaking on his iPhone in the past. This time, he's been working with Ableton and other music creation programs to develop his signature sound further.

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

When was the last time you listened to an actual ‘mixtape’? You probably think of one of the many mixes inhabiting our digital social spheres, which you might give a quick click or a fast listen. Dutch Drum and Bass connoisseurs Lenzman & Dan Stezo go back in time with the launch of their ‘Soul Tape’, an actual 60 minute cassette tape meant for the discerning Drum and Bass lover.

The Soul Tape is a limited give-away. The hand-crafted package comes in a hard-cover box, with additional T-shirt and a variety of stickers - all with custom artwork by Team Blazin'. Besides that The Soul Tape is a ‘cool’ and fresh (but hyper-traditional) take on the mix-format, it stems from Lenzman and Dan Stezo's 90s ritual of making Hiphop tapes for each other in school.

The Soul Tape exhibits tracks from the world’s finest Drum and Bass artists, blended by Lenzman with Dan Stezo’s narrative slang and distinct voice-over. As a combination they have worked together since 2003, and recently increased their collaborative spirit both on stage and on record. 2014 saw their first release ‘Move & Focus’ together as a combination on the esteemed Metalheadz imprint as part of Lenzman's debut album 'Looking At The Stars.

Lenzman’s tremendous success in his genre and his tour the force around the world doesn't keep him from maintaining a close circle. Long time confidant Team Blazin' adds the artwork in the form of handwritten calligraphy which articulates the Hiphop aesthetics, the three artists’ connecting factor and their shared stylistic background.

The Soul Tape is not for sale, as it is an initiative out of love for the craft, the music and their heritage. The 50 limited edition tapes will be given away to fans over a period of time. As it's holiday season, starting with 10 units via a Facebook “Share to Win” competition. Head over to the Metalheadz Facebook page and you might win a copy of The Soul Tape.

“When we were kids growing up it was all about tapes. It was a time where music was hard to come by and albums were played from start to finish, over and over... It was also a time where we made mixtapes for each other, recorded off CD, radio, whatever. Back then it was Hiphop. We are taking that aesthetics and giving you a piece of nostalgia which celebrates the love for our craft. We've made you a mixtape. This time it's not Hiphop but Drum and Bass music.
