A familiar favourite, Deft, steps up with his second EP on Hooversound, featuring a VIP remix of one of his original songs taken from his 2020 ‘Burna’ EP.

Defts ‘Burna’ EP back in 2020 set the tone perfectly for Hooversound, it being the second release on the imprint following Hyroglific and Sinistarr’s almighty ‘BS6’. Deft’s hybrid artistic style of production sat perfectly within the launch of Hooversound as he went on to rise steadily within the underground electronic scene. Fast forward four years, Deft returns to Hooversound with an equally impressive follow up, entitled ‘Two Years’.

Yip Wong aka Deft has been producing music for nearly a decade. Within that time he has crafted a signature style using elements of dance, cinematic sound design, hip hop, jungle, footwork and 140. This enigmatic style of production has led him to release on 20/20 LDN, Exit, 1985 Music, Critical Music and more. His release schedule alongside his ever evolving sound has gained the attention of not only London and UK listeners, but fans worldwide.

Defts new ‘Two Years’ EP on Hooversound once again sees the talented producer drawing elements from 140, footwork and jungle, all laced with his ability to create immersive atmospheres and intricate percussion. It’s been teased across SHERELLE and NAINAs DJ sets for months, with it finally dropping to the masses this summer on Hooversound.

👟Stutter Step is a new music radio show at @radiostudent and movement led by @marka_san7 . He will focus on exploring the footwork juke music that originated from Chicago. In the radio show, we will host local and foreign guest mixes by active producers, we will play old and new products of footwork and juke, as well as related sub-genres, such as jungle and ghettotek. The purpose of the radio show is to bring the phenomenon of this music closer to the local audience and to encourage local producers to send us music, so that together we can spread the love for footwork and give it a local stamp on the map. His knack for pairing euphoric melodies with wild syncopated rhythms to create futuristic, emotional soundscapes has seen his music gain support from selectors and remixers around the world. Alongside self-releasing on his own imprint “Textured,” B:Thorough’s music has been picked up by forward-thinking labels such as Boxed, Dream Eater Records and Coyote Records.  
Today we premiere "Screens Bleeds" off his forthcoming ‘Ambi Werk’ EP,  the sixth release on B:Thorough’s experimental Textured imprint.  This three-track project sees B:Thorough embodying the essence of Retrofuturism. The  footwork inspired EP combines experimental and ambient elements creating  a nostalgic landscape. While the familiar pulse of the 808 drum machine anchors the tracks in Footwork rhythms , B:Thorough warps these foundations with shimmering synths and shape-shifting textures. Mumdance & Logos launch their new Different Circles sub-label, DEVILS with a surprise drop from go-to grime producer Boylan, who delivers his Devils Mix of Logos’s track Glass (from Different Circles 002).
As the Weightless sound spins off in to its own independent orbit the label founders present DEVILS as a vehicle for a new series of singular releases representing the original energy of grime.       
Only previously circulating amongst a handful of DJs on USB and dubplate, Boylan’s remix realises the oft-attempted but rarely achieved synthesis of grime’s radical re-appropriation of rhythmic conventions and the laser-guided precision of late 90s Metalheadz.

The fifth collection of "Voidness" remixes assembles some of the most light-hearted reworks to date. Opening up with Kitkaliitto's delicate take on NOTR, "Glowbrick" browses through the many faces of four-to-the-floor modern electronic music ranging from Ghostek's "warehouse techno" edit of "To Hear Her Burial", Thomas Bjerring's summery vision of the otherwise dark "Crimson Purple" and last but not least, Morris Cowan's trademark quirkiness applied to perfection on one of Voidness' anthems, "Womb".
