Hans Reichel is an experimental musician who uses both traditional instruments and instruments of his own making. This piece involve an instrument he created called the Daxophone. It involves a specially carved and shaped piece of wood with on old school horn "speaker" along with a tiny amplifier that he bows with a fiddle bow. He has variously shaped pieces of wood that he uses.

This is some improvised, experimental music made will filming the experimental film "Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda". Angus MacLise was the first drummer of the Velvet Underground. Previous to that he and John Cale had played with La Monte Young (experimental, minimalist composer) in the Theater of Eternal Music.

A 1963 performance of a "composition" by experimental minimalist composer LaMonte Young. In this performance, the Theatre of Eternal Music included LaMonte Young, John Cale, Angus MacLise, Tony Conrad, Marian Zazeela, and perhaps a few others. LaMonte Youngs compositions consisted of "laws" laid out by La Monte Young regarding "allowable" sequences and simultaneities. This recording shows where this method led musically.

Henry Flynt is an experimental musician and conceptual anti-artist who does improvisations and musical experiments one fiddle, banjo, guitar, keyboards, etc. He had some involvement briefly with Fluxus, and in the late 60s put out an album with a band called Henry Flynt and the Insurrections, which was punk before punk. I recommend that people also check out his album-length piece "Purified by Fire".

A long experimental drone piece by Angus Maclise performed and recorded in 1964. Like many performers of this sort of music, Maclise was open to the aleatory aspects of sound, and someone a ways into the piece you can hear a cat meow a couple of times. To the performers of this sort of music, that would be considered part of the piece.

In the late 1980s, Sue Ann Harkey went out on the streets of NYC with a recording device and picked up some sounds to play with. In 2016, Apio Ludd played with these sounds electronically changing them in various ways to create something different.

So a few days ago, Apio decided the best thing to do with this tracks was to distort them and create strange and wonderful noise. Here a stretched, twisted, distorted poem song (from Apio Ludd's chapbook, The Free Love Songs of a Libertine) makes love with stretched, twisted, distorted erotic sounds to create something new. The poem song (stretched, it seems, beyond comprehensibility) goes like this:
The wheels spinning in your eyes
are the first glimmerings of a nightmare
in which I may discover the magic of your drifting feast
The wings quivering on your lips
are the feathery buds of an exquisite kiss
offered in the silvery night by a demon
The fawns trembling on your breasts
are the flaming rivers of uncharted lusts
fermented in the alchemy of volcanoes
and danced across the belly of a jewel-eyed snake.

Imagine between 5 and 23 drunken libertine sages coming together to share their wisdom. This may well be the sound of it. Here I have brought together five different rants recorded a few years ago on the cheapest of equipment. I mixed them up, distorted them in various ways and stretched them out to 17 and a half minutes. (the rants ranged from about 4 minutes to about 6 1/2 minutes orginally). Having distorted and mixed up the words original spoken, it is likely that a listener imbibing the right intoxicants may find some actual wisdom in the mix ... or at least some amusement.
