We inaugurate the new year with a set whose energy still snakes through the trees of the Komorebi Music Festival. A set capable of subjugating bodies to the rhythm of a darkness dense of strong techno and synergies.
It was an untamable ride with which Wrong Assessment closed the curtain on Saturday night: powerful bpm that scratched the earth and overwhelmed the crowd.

Welcome to our 46th episode where we host Noark, a great upcoming and talented DJ based in Tilburg. Growing up in a small town but highly active in the underground nightlife scene both as a visitor and DJ. With a burning love for techno music she began mastering her own sound. Putting a lot of her daily time and therefore dedication into selecting the best tracks, her mission for each set is to tell a story on different, deepening levels soundwise. 

This sound got her on the radar of some well known events in the Netherlands such as Orphic and Eindstation. Recently she also joined the Eindstation family as a resident where she will be playing tomorrow at the Eindstation & Friends event.

Marcin Bociański aka Marboc plays an important role in tricity techno scene. The owner of an impressive vinyl collection has recently become a lecturer at Instytut Dźwięku school based in Gdańsk. Over 15 years of experience has brought him to a long-awaited place of sounds where fast, rhythmic drums connect with a subtle background and engaging, industrial bassline. Throughout the years, his productions has been released by labels such as DRVMS LTD., Rhod Records or Coded Platform. It doesn’t matter which slot he gets – Marcin can adjust to the atmosphere of the party by serving either hypnotic warm-up or ruthless closing.

Truxx are a dj/producer duo who’s interaction with any electrical device stands at the core of their techno making process. A conversation with the computer results in the most fast and thriving techno. Bringing the sound to a pure tone of the sinus wave is a defining trait which they always try to incorporate in their music. Hence it is that they define their techno style as “bleepje techno”. This combined with lots of percussive rhythmic elements creates the sound which they love to make. Getting the listener in that never ending hypnotic state is what they want to achieve. Knowing that feeling by being in the crowd, it is now time to give that feeling to a new wave of post-covid party people.

The X Vinyl Series continues with label head Florian Meindl at the helm with the upcoming release Metaphysics. Synonymous with deep, dark techno, Florian does not disappoint with this 4 track EP, enlisting in demand producer and Rabe label boss Denise Rabe on remixing duties. Playing live with his Modular Synth set up, Florian began working on the concept for what would become these three original tracks while playing shows over the last month. The live jam character can clearly be felt in the first two tracks Metaphysics and Holomorphic Function. Florians original Bell's Theorem has a deep melodic structure. With Denise Rabes interpretation, the track is contorted through some serious distortion pedals and broken beat to match her dark take on the synth line. The outcome is an impressive piece for one of those never ending nights in concrete walled rooms with oversized loudspeakers.

Florian Meindl - Metaphysics [ FLASH-X-005 ]

DVS1 came up as a raver in the Midwest, throwing techno parties for over 20 years and getting up to mischief, often next to huge stacks of speakers that still influence him to this day. He is now well-established as a vital DJ and resident at Berghain and Panorama Bar. 

This mix is something special and a side of DVS1 normally not heard or recorded! A true digger and passionate record collector running the eclectic Mistress Recordings and the more pure techno label HUSH. Here he crosses into house territory for a special dekmantel mix. 

Of the podcast we have here, he says, “This mix is two hours of a four hour rare “house” set recorded LIVE in Sept 2017 at an undisclosed location. I make it a point not to release many mixes and while most people know and follow me for my techno sets, this mix is for those who dig a little deeper and appreciate it all… Enjoy!" There is still a real sense of pace to the mix as it glides effortlessly though flurries of percussion into vocal numbers, cosmic curveballs and piano laced anthems. It’s a fascinating insight into a whole other side of one of techno’s foremost talents.

Ben Klock’s Klockworks invites the legendary London-based artist The Advent to join the ever-growing roster to deliver the 22nd instalment on the label, to be due out this September. The Advent started producing in his trademark raw, energetic style in 1994 and since then has become a rebel and an icon in the scene. Cisco Ferreira puts forward three stand-out tracks for Klockworks, one brand new one and two from The Advent’s rave archives.

On the A-side, ‘High Horse’ is a fresh track from The Advent that has been prominent in his live sets, features a saucy vocal that can also be recognised as a favourite in Ben Klock’s DJ sets in the past few months, now finally making an appearance on wax for the label. 

The flip-side features two previously unreleased tracks from the 90’s when the approach was more raw and groovy, something that can be seen having a revival in current times. ‘Un Named’ is more stripped down and pulsating while ‘Sound Pove’ features a jacking Chicago house groove with a techno tempo, both fitting perfectly into the Klockworks catalog.
