Our 101st podcast will be provided by the German DJ Pernox. Since a couple of years, Pernox is resident of Geheimclub Magdenburg. Since becoming a regular Pernox takes care of the bookings and podcast series of the club as well. Generally, he likes to implement a diverse range of tracks in his sets driven by his mood. Old School tools, groovy tracks, electro, ghetto house and footwork, all come across when plays. 

For Frenzy Pernox delivered a 3h mix, which is a live recording of his closing set at Geheimclub Magdeburg. When asked what he wanted to create during his 3h set, he told us: “I decided to open the set with some ambient stuff and to go not to hard (but fast-paced) from the beginning and create more and more tension. So I ended up playing more recent and driving productions during this part of the set. For me the first little break is at about 40 minutes, when I took out some of the energy. After that I went on playing more diverse and storytelling, and subsequently you can hear more and more old school tunes, the atmosphere is switching quite frequently and you can find some non-techno tracks.” Listen to the sound of Pernox here, enjoy!

Nikolina was there with Leon, whom I already knew well and adored. He introduced me to her and I learned that she was a dj. After OW001's maiden-voyage into outer space, Outworld now takes us to the underworld courtesy of label head Klangkuenstler's 'Balthazar' EP, which marries raw peaktime-power with claustrophobic-come-ecstatic atmospheres, served over the course of four tracks.
The devil's dancing on the title-track: as serrated off-hits shatter on tough kicks, a wicked saw-riff begins to drill through the drums as if summoned from Hades. In contrast, the bass-driven body and pulsating sinus-tone of 'Zorn Amons' grind like teeth as they build in tension. A moment of illusive release comes with 'Das Schattenreich', on which the reverberating, fast-paced percussion
runs for escape, hunted fiercely by a meaty trance-lead. On 'Jenseits', though, Klangkuenstler pulls us back into purgatory, showcasing a dramatic end to a carefully crafted and devilishly fun EP of rough club bangers.

„Into The Unknown“ follows this mantra perfectly. Detailed synth placements evolve a steadily riding hi-hat shuffle, incorporating the flowing drumming which comes with it. On top of it, energising pad lines do their thing in catching us during a perfect breakdown. 

Second b-side flip is „Dark Space“, with the name saying it all. A distinctively darker sound atmosphere is paired with modulated patterns, systematically pushing the groove underneath.
