Three years since his last solo release on Diffrent, the label boss returns with a spicy serving to match the summer heat!

‘Fajita’ starts off sparse on the drumwork, letting the wiggling, warping bassline flip the dancefloor on its head. That is until Dexta turns up the gas in the second half, dropping in a thumping four-to-the-floor kick and subtle break to see out proceedings with a sizzling energy.

‘Amethyst’ is collaboration based on an original track by Lucent, and finds Dexta at his most Diffrent. Like the soundtrack to a bout of deep-space madness, an off-kilter beat pattern (watch out for this one DJs!) meets sharply oscillating low-end, robotic growls and an eerie, half-heard vocal.

10 years is a long time for any label, and throughout the past decade Repertoire has seen distributors come and go, vinyl sales plummet, and interest in the breakbeat-led drum andbass wane. But steadfast in its ideals, the label has never strayed from its roots, and today goes from strength to strength as jungle's golden age influences a new generation.

To celebrate this landmark we've tasked some of the most influential producers on the jungle circuit with re-imagining classic tracks from our back catalogue.

Back with his first EP for Diffrent since 2017’s ‘Expat’, Mauoq opens up a can of psychedelic earworms ready to wriggle their way into your record box.

Leading us down the wormhole is the undulating ‘Sheworm’ and its sinuous dub vibe. ‘Millipede’ comes full of urgent whispers and scuttling percussion, swelling up into a monstrous glob of low-end post-breakdown. ‘Taxon’ ups the pace, pairing a lively step with seismic charges of bass, before ‘Fluke’ finally delivers a coup de grâce of mind-altering gurgles and guttural throbs. 

This is Mauoq at his finest — the Italian’s signature blend of shadowy, skewed and intoxicating sounds turned up to eleven.

The full ‘Can of Worms’ EP drops digitally on Friday 13th December (we don’t believe in bad luck), with a super limited run of 10” pressings available at the Clashmouth Drum & Bass Label Market on Saturday 9th November.
