Recordat #0035 invited Kinship to curate 13 hours for the Sonic Liberation Front in solidarity with Palestine on @radioalhara. Aired first on August 1st, 2021 as part of the Sonic Liberation Front, an initiative for Palestine by a group of audio platforms and sound artists who came together to unify their sound for Palestine and protest against the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

This is set #04 by Rafush @rafush for Kinship's Sonic Liberation Front.

@kin-ship is a label based in Berlin, exploring the mysterious series of relation and encounter.

This is the 35th session of a series of sessions Recordat is hosting on Radio Alhara every other Sunday of the month.

Ganz ruhige Töne kommen heute aus dem schönen Basel. Thom Monn ist ein alter Hase in der Basler Elektro-Szene und ein ganz besonderer Sound-Fetischist. Seine Sets erzeugen immer diese ganz besondere Stimmung denen man sich einfach nicht entziehen kann. Vor allem zwei Königsklassen der elektronischen Musik beherrscht er wie kein anderer --- zum einen ist er einer der besten Warm-Up DJs (hier sei sein Set „Warmup For Marek Hemmann“ erwähnt) und zum anderem ist er ein Virtuose der Ambient-Musik. Seine Ambient-Sets berühren die Seele, sind dann auch gerne mal melancholisch aber doch bleibt immer eine gewisse Zuversicht und Liebe zurück.

Thom vielen Dank, das du dir trotz dieses für dich so schweren 2016, die Zeit genommen hast uns so eine schöne Auszeit von der Realität zu zaubern.

"almost to the day 10 years ago i was exchanging emails with carsten (nicolai) and olaf (bender) for my first release with raster-noton. before i knew it, i was playing a concert at villa massimo - i never played in front of people before. till today i feel nervous and a bit estranged by the situation of live performances, but i've learned (a bit) to dive into this and get an experience out of it - after all an essential part of art is presenting what you've done to the public. making a mixtape, though, feels more natural and honest in some way. so, without the need to shoot from the hip, this mix is dedicated to all the patient, inspiring and encouraging people i've met with raster(-noton)."
