Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

The campfire will make them sweat, the drums will make them dance and the mixture will make them float. There is no turning back from such hypnosis."

Forest On Stasys (@forestonstasys), owner and electronic explorer in Danza Nativa (@danza-nativa). The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions. But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

Italian sound artist Dino Sabatini is back on his own Outis Music. The label, inaugurated in 2011 by Sabatini himself, is known for the spiritual deeper side of techno and hosted many artists like Claudio PRC, Ness, Edit Select and most recently Italian duo Crossing Avenue. Dino himself appeared for the last time on his own label back in 2017 in collaboration with fellow Luigi Tozzi.
Flash forward to 2023, Sabatini here releases his Opera Quattro EP on the Outis Opera series. A series focussing more on the slowed down, ritualistic side of ambient and deep techno, with his own long players 'Omonimo' and 'Shaman's Paths' as milestone albums. 'Opera Quattro' continues on this path, it's a mesmerizing collection of playful electronica, heavily influenced by trip-hop and dub music, perfectly capturing Sabatini's current state of mind. Balancing in between half-tempo drum and bass and organic techno grooves, it's an essential pack of Italian deep techno trips.

Chiming in for Bassiani’s anniversary party on October 10th comes an exceptional talent from the Asturian coast and Architectural’s third appearance in the Podcast series. Since 2004, Juan Rico’s been holding the line as Reeko, a stand-in for blistering industrial rhythms, founder of Mental Disorder and founding partner of Spanish techno bastion PoleGroup. Come 2010, a new incarnation emerged under the stage name Architectural, a faceless and assumedly authorless variant of his that played on rich textures, cinematic tones and a heavier focus on the architecture of sound itself. No longer incognito, Architectural offers a brand of ambient techno charged through with Jazz and references from the world of film that pulsates and slithers, crackles and shifts. From his earliest releases on his eponymous Architectural imprint, through Semantica, Non Series and others, his music has established itself as a touchstone for avant-garde techno centred on body and dancefloor, and his future’s sure to keep delivering more of his monolith beats. Bassiani Podcast 287 is a truly impressive addition to the series, a sweeping three-hour montage of gritty textures, modulated frequencies and punchy basslines recorded live at Bassiani.
