One day when “homard” project, then completed, is showcased in a museum of some sort, we’ll put on serious faces to tell visitors various stories about the whole process, and all those stories are almost bound to start from the very beginning – a small white room in a house on Hovsep Arghutyan street, Arabkir district, Yerevan, Armenia. Those people will listen to our stories and go “Where did you say? Romania? Albania?” And in order to avoid having to pull even more serious faces to tell them about Armenia, we have asked @luciakagramanyan to collect the Armenian Music Anthology, as we were convinced she would be the best at it. Now, every time we want to tell somebody about Armenia, we can suggest that they listen to this mix, in which we have slowly and carefully collected a very small part of the great legacy we have inherited, trying to look at it through the prism of history.

We're opening our Soundcloud page by mix of Lucia Kagramanyan, played in the place Vajrapar on 9 September.

Lucia is the host of "Panorama Yerevan" on radio NTS, great connoisseur of Armenian strange and popular music. The recording includes songs of different genres: from Folk to Rabiz. On the last track she couldn't stop, took the microphone and blew up the night by a karaoke performance. She sang very sincerely and sensually.

My grandfather, Martin Vardazaryan, Armenian composer and jazz musician, has recently celebrated his 85th Birthday! Author of numerous film scores, including the famed Soviet Armenian movie "Hello, that's me" or "Բարև, ես եմ" 1965, he started his career in the 1950s as a pianist and graduated from Armenian State Conservatory as a composer. Apart from theater and cinema music, he has also composed several pop-jazz songs performed by famous Armenian singers like Raisa Mkrchyan and Tatevik Hovhannisyan, and recorded with the Armenian Estrada Orchestra and TV and Television Orchestra of Armenia where he also served as a conductor. 

I made a one-hour show dedicated to his works, from estrada and lyrical songs to short suites that I have found in the archives of Republic Radio and that have not been publicly released. You will also hear some of his film scores!  I compiled the show with care and love, my granda dis the best. <3 Hope you enjoy!

Armenia and Artsakh are under attack of the allied forces of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Cities and towns in Artsakh are being heavily shelled, the recent attacks involve the bombing of the Holy Saint Cathedral in Shushi, the maternity hospital in Stepanakert, where during the attack people were receiving humanitarian help. Numerous households have been swept away from the face of earth by Azeri-Turkish missiles. The damage is estimated to be almost unrecoverable. But, we have gone through this before. Where death and destruction are sowed by the enemy, the missiles they drop will one day grow into trees. Our land is prosperity. It recreates. We live to believe that life is undeniably supreme to evil.
