Nothing if not well-travelled, Michel Bagoe spent his early years moving between Senegal and Martinique prior to moving to Paris in the early 70s. From there he decamped to Cote D'Ivoire to become the resident vocalist at the famous "Canne a Sucre" nightclub in Abidjan.
"Oulé Collé" is taken from a session recorded by a who's who of Martiniquan musicians in Paris in 1976.

The chant was one of pain and desperation as he stood amidst the village of shanty huts. This was a place which he had called home for so long but now as he stood staring at the burnt out town that surrounded him he had never felt a stronger sense of disconnect. His heart ached for his missing lover, she had vanished into the shadowy depths of the forest which surrounded the once peaceful town. He shouted into the night, calling her name, "Tabanka" he cried, again and again. 

Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque is a record label made up of Hugo Mendez, Frankie Francis, Lewis Heriz and friends. Based in London they release music of a wonderfully eclectic worldly origin which could be as far removed from the city streets in which they inhabit.  Alma Negra is based in Switzerland and has previously released music for Highlife and INI Movement. This one has tribal dancefloor written all over it.

Having already blessed the airwaves with their masked Boiler Room performance, and with releases and features seen on YUME, Huntley’s & Palmers, Permanent Vacation and Anthony Napel’s Probito, the promising talents of Edinburgh duo Hi & Saberhägen continue on Lo with ‘Acid Finger’. 

The five track EP showcases exactly what the pair are known for; exploring the balance of the subtle and direct natures of dance music. There is something extremely unique about their productions that breathes new life into an arguably static climate. 

‘Acid Finger’ travels from highs to lows at a consistent and coherent pace, starting with the sparkling, disco tinged ‘Forcé Boîte’. Euphoric heights are executed through light flourishing synth lines, drum patters and chord stabs. ‘Woodrum’ maintains the pace but switches the tone with jungle rhythms and a pounding bass. 

Ominous belter ‘Git’ with its driving kick, looped vocal sample and rolling bass. The track develops into a hopeful finish with the introduction of glittering synth movements. 

Title track 'Acid Finger' delivers beautifully delicate percussive and melodic work that progressively shapes up against fleeting shrill synth lines that come to a fitting crescendo. 

Ending the release is the melancholic atmospheres created in ‘Redacted’, bringing a shift in mood and imitating a trudge through memory lane. 

Expect to see and hear a lot more from these guys in the future..

Randomized Coffee is a music project created by two Italian DJs, Massimiliano Troiani and Tommaso Checchi. Their sound explores the world of Funk and Brazilian rhythms swinging through Afro-beat and Latin Jazz for the dance-floor. Their previous release, "Agboho" by Randomized Coffee (N'Dinga Gaba remix) topped the Afro House Chart in Traxsource and lasted as number one for a month. On this release, we have "Baba" which is already a Summer anthem for the few DJ's who have the song Worldwide. Steady percussion & vocal chants intertwine with sax & guitar solos keeping the energy up high. Composed of six titles and exploring a wide range of rhythms and emotions, “We Take It From Here” is a celebration of resilience, patience, creativity and devotion.
