Silent Tides (CBV4)

Maft Sai and Chris Menist are best known for reviving Thai pop music from the 60s and 70s with the release of the Sound of Siam compilations, as well as forming The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. With the release of their debut album in December 2014, the band have become an acclaimed live band, updating the style and bringing Molam to a wider audience around the world, including the Worldwide Festival in Sete, 2015.

The guys came by the Brownswood Basement to share a handful of beautiful and rare 7inches with Gilles.

Following the acclaimed Kouté jazz, we are glad to announce our new project compilation with parisian label Heavenly Sweetness in collaboration with afro/antilles record expert Nicolas Skliris. This project, that we introduced in mid February as Digital Zandoli with a limited mixtape, aimed to gather a wide spectrum of tracks from pre zouk era in the french West Indies. We picked 12 slept on tracks amongst piles of obscure caribbean records to show a broader spectrum to the Zouk music style that is poorly defined.  These tracks reveal the merger between traditional and other rhythmic genres (funk, disco, afro-beat, Latin Brazilian …), with the addition of synthesizers and drums machine to the creative process. Original, magnetic and highly danceable.

LYMA released his debut 'In Between Shifts'. The mini album was received well and we wanted to see what would happen if we poured some additional different flavours over the original productions.

When we asked label friends if they were up for creating a remix for one of the tracks, we got so many responses that we decided to spread them out over 2 releases.

The result is a collection of interesting twists on the originals by Duke Hugh, Louis Bordeaux, Beau Zwart, Coubo, Jonny Tobin, Pseo Lux, Rebiere, Shamis & JO BISSA.
