‘Breathe' began as an experiment in found sound, attempting to combine vocal atmospheres with percussion and ambience from real-world sources. As Pete and Maff started spinning ideas around, the sounds began to take on a life of their own, and became the basis of three very different takes on the original direction. Rather than just picking a version to release as OpenSky, it seemed a better idea to make it a musical triptych, tied together with a visual identity to echo the core samples used on all three tracks.

‘Breathe’ is the thumping heart of the project, starting from the fluid groove and gradually opening up into synth-heavy atmospheres, but jump over to the (n)seconds and S.A.Fred pages to hear ‘Deep Breath’ and ‘Shallow Breath’ for the full picture.

Ineffable Ruin: Bata Motel  (Crass Cover)

I put this track together in July 2022 during the alphatest of EXT64 (EnergyXT2 - 64bit). The music seems to be a throwback to the tracks I was making back in 2009/2010. Maybe it's because I was more focussed upon the actual DAW than usual when making this piece. Maybe it's because I was "homesick", and needed a break from my recent ambient compositions. Maybe.

Edit: In September 2024 I remastered the track. I have increased the LUFS level by almost 0.5 in preparation for an album release.
