A short 90-minute journey through the musical history of India - this programme is as colourful as the country itself.

We begin with almost 100-year-old songs by Khansahib Abdul Karim Khan, briefly touch on the infinite expanses of Indian classical music, look for the connection to jazz with T.K. Ramamoorthy, The Braz Gonzalves Seven, among others, and dance our way through film music between Bollywood and Kollywood to the disco sound of the 80s with composers R.D. Burman and Ilaiyaraaja.

This version is without the spoken parts, just the music.

For the last 6 months, while on the road (in one way or another) I compiled and stitched together this ambient mixtape. Partly in an attempt to battle the noise and chaos of travel, and equally for a love for calmness. It has morphed from something I made for myself to induce a kind of relaxed focus, into a mix I feel is worthy of sharing with you. This mix is dedicated to all the gorgeous people, open minded musicians and instrument makers, who overwhelmed me with Atai and were willed to teach me something about Gnawa. Not to mention the faboulous record stores in Casablanca, Rabat, Ouazazarte, Marrakesh and those hidden sellers, who suddenly appeared, when i lost my bearings in the Souq.

The mix contains old vinyls and cassettes, which are rounded up with contemporary digital releases and reissues. Pitched down darbouka tapes, traditional orchestra, modern gnawa, fusion, rock, miserable conditioned pop cassettes and some algerian raï. Featuring labels like boussiphone, koutobiaphone, disque gam, casaphone, radio martiko, nabilophone and so on…
