Charlie and Topper are two masters of their own sounds who know how to bring a party to life. When done properly, combining like-minded selectors, the right environment, and a receptive, curious crowd, a back-to-back set has the potential to elevate us beyond the realms of each respective DJs individual identities. 

Find the right chemistry, and you end up with an assortment of records that complement each other really well. That’s exactly what we’ve experienced during Charlie and Topper's gig at the club this January. The mix is energetic, playful and quirky, and the result is a special session that feels much more than the sum of its parts.

This is a live recording of my set at "RHADOO / Beat In Me", held at Vent in Tokyo on 29th November. It’s the opening set on the main floor from 23:00 to 1:00, before Rhadoo’s performance. Please have a listen when you have some time.

• The recorder was slightly malfunctioning, and I couldn't properly adjust the input levels during recording. As a result, some tracks have distorted kicks. Thank you for your understanding.

A name that is synonymous with high-grade electronic music in all its many forms, his work behind in the DJ booth is matched by few, as every set results in a truly mind-expanding journey. A constant in the [a:rpia:r] core setup, he has been at the centre of the Romanian minimal community since he decided on his chosen path. We continue our love affair with Asia with another South Korean artist stepping up, and this time we present the talents of Young Sun. Not just being your average selector, Young is resident DJ at Seoul’s Teller nightclub, and he regularly welcomes top-flight artists to spin with him, and these have included Raphael Carrau, Ika and Usherenko, Dojo Zone, LVCA, Penelope, Poggio, Lamalice, Alex Dima, Alexia Glensy, the list goes on and on. The Anecdote collective founder has also been making his way across Europe during the Spring / Summer months with dates at Outcast Torino, Dias De Campo, Spook Club in Valencia, and quite a few more.

This bright selector and in-demand artist does not disappoint with his mix of our InSession series as he winds his way through a finely told sonic story. Being able to tell a tale inside just under 70 minutes is a skill in itself, but when its done in the way that Young Sun has it is clear why the Teller resident is so highly prized. Maintaining a deep emotion while building up through deep, hazy house, West Coast tech-house, and tripped-out moments is yet another skill in Young’s locker. One for those long, hot summer nights.

Tripsitting Music (Sober Variant)

Kozo’s fingerprint has touched our club experiences for almost two decades now. Record selector, producer under various aliases (Dr. Kozo or Ooodjkoz), part of the Sahau and AK41 projects or label co-owner, Kozo has been actively reshaping Romania’s electronic underground with his personal output. 

Kozo’s code of musical marvels, enlisted from all corners of the sphere, fueled excitement when kicking off the Guesthouse dancing chamber at SNRS48 earlier this year. The focus on the atmosphere was a vital facet to the holistic experience of the event. 

The listener is greeted with a brilliantly arranged euphoric electro that is just over a minute in length, a break that club-goers can easily find themselves getting lost in, for the moment, for eternity. Using his imagination and passion for digging, and most importantly, his sense of humor, through his selection, structure and mix Kozo adds a little bit more layer and edge to the color spectrum of the contemporary electronic music scene. 

Blending various electronic music genres, the set includes tracks that create a calm after or before the storm. Using the mixer as a musical instrument, the selections packs potent weapons that bring hypnoses or even self-revelation amongst the dancers, whether listened on home speakers or the confines of their headphones, from `Aphasia - Acapulco (Q6 Remix) igniting thunderous synths, to Quenum - Ritual (Frank Haag's ceremonial re-ritualisation) or the contemporary engagingly propulsive ‘Dreamers’ from Enzo Siragusa and Rossko.
