Kronos Device - Planet X EP [No Static / Automatic // NSA005]

No Static Automatic is back with a ferocious offering from two pillars of the UK electro scene: The Dexorcist & Bass Junkie aka Kronos Device.

The Dexorcist grew up on a diet of ‘80s electro, hip hop and Miami bass before graduating to acid house, techno, bleep and bass. Involved in London’s warehouse scene throughout the ‘90s and heading up the Control Tower label alongside Keith Tenniswood of Two Lone Swordsmen, The Dexorcist has gone on to release music on seminal labels like Furthur Electronix, Super Rhythm Trax, and Yellow Machines.

On the other side of the workshop, we have Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie. A devoted electro head from the start, Bass Junkie has been active as a DJ, live act and producer since the late ‘80s. His signature take on gnarly, bass-led electro led him to work with artists like Radioactiveman, Egyptian Lover, and Dynamix II; releasing on Touchin’ Bass, Elektrix, and DMX Krew’s Breakin’ Records, not to mention his own Battle Trax imprint.

Here, The Dexorcist and Bass Junkie join forces again as Kronos Device, serving up an impeccable 4-tracker of pulsing grit, extra-terrestrial bass and funky machine hydraulics.

Lefrenk represents the maximum exponent of an ambition to link learning and creative personal evolution, within the underground electronic world map. 

Since he began his experiments with music production software in 2000, Lefrenk has been burning stages, marked by different achievements, such as his official title of "Digidesign Protools", in 2004. That same year, it represents the zero kilometer of his artistic explosion, which has led him to generate more than 100 references to date, published in innumerable specialized labels around the world.

Through his enormous musical production, he has built a body of work hatched from all possible angles of electronic calligraphy. Its own universe, carved out of house culture, techno impulsion and a very personal approach to organic sounds coming from ambient variables or any android reverberation of post-human music. 

Precisely, his dual role as creator and teacher of music production defines a greater need within his modus operandi: to weave a network of artists, collaborations and new values that spread electronic infection at all levels, also within a rich Galician scene. that he is propelling through his teachings as a music production teacher at Fanzine School, A Coruña. 

Even with a long journey ahead, the career of this renowned producer, from A Coruña, promises that the best is yet to come, through renewed forms of pure cybersonic heterodoxy.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- I have gone through many styles and I am still evolving so there are many artists who have influenced me over time. It's impossible to name just a few, I would include hundreds.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I have several releases in the near future, from Electro to Techno, I prefer not to reveal the labels until the day of the release. And I´m working in an Ambient live act and a Techno live act.

Which artists/labels are more relevant to you now?

- Something similar happens to me as in the first question. I can't choose, there is so much quality today. But I have to mention my friends Roi & The Panic Room with their label Fanzine Records, they have released great artists and all kinds of styles. They are always ahead of the trends. 

What inspires you now to create music?

- My students at Fanzine School, I always learn from them. They influence me and seeing them grow makes me feel proud. They have opened my mind.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- Right now I'm working with Bitwig and Ableton plus Vsts

Born in A Coruña (Spain) in 1984, Francisco Martínez, aka Lefrenk, is passionate about electronic music in all its expressions and trends.

Since 2000, with over 100 tracks released, Lefrenk has been a driving force in the electronic music scene. He is an inspirational artist who continues to push boundaries with his work.

His upcoming EP, 'PLASTIC', features 3 of his own tracks, as well as 4 remixes by the most sought-after DJs and producers in our genre and close to our label.

During the years of 2021 and 2022, the artist crafted these tracks along with many more. Lefrenk has studied the roots of this characteristic genre of electronica by analyzing its development since its inception and forecasting its future evolution. His music draws influence from various genres like Electro, Techno, and more - featuring harder rhythms and complex melodies to spacey sounds and strong bass. His musical legacy is eclectic, currently leaning towards a faster, cybernetic, futuristic, modern, and spacey electro and techno path without forgetting the essence of the past.
